Damien Moore commented...
I'm campaigning for a local review into local government to create a Southport Town Council to give local residents a greater say on how their money is being spent.

Yawn
Damian or more likely Terry Jones trying to pick up some former Southport Party votes?
What next - Southport Out of Sefton?
Another tier of local government will need money from the long-suffering Council Tax payers.

He must be auditioning for the post of local jester. Waiting to see him wearing bells on his shoes and a bladder on the end of a stick. Taking lessons from Boris the clown.

It may be a surprise to those who publicly criticise Mr. Moore, that the majority of Southport people are in agreement with Mr. Moore's application and dedication for Southport. He has much to contend with since out of town councilors appear to block every move he makes to improve the local area, We would be far better off with a full coherent team of local councilors like Mr. Moore to bring Southport back into focus once again. Action is far better than words - someone ought to inform the Labour party of that!

A town council as proposed by Mr Moore would have limited powers (eg parks and allotments) and would still come under Sefton for most of the important stuff. The same as Maghull Town Council or the parish councils. And it will cost you more. Of course the misleading Mr Moore isn't going to make this clear to anyone

It would be interesting to see how many Southport people actually agree with Mr "No" Moore, rather than an unsubstantiated assertion. Has he actually tried to do anything specific which has been blocked? He seems to talk the talk, smile a lot in photo opportunities and no nothing. Here we have him trying to introduce a new layer of local bureaucracy so that his Tory mates have some power, denied to them by the voters. Let's see how well they do in the local elections.

Moore is a typical here today gone tomorrow politician who will line his pockets then walk off into the sunset

Is this another of your "carefully researched" majorities? I would expect that very few would be wishing for a Southport Town Council as soon as the costs are revealed.
Just a vain attempt to grab some control as they realise that Tories are on the way down in Southport, wishful thinking that some PR stunt may gender some votes.
