I do. I could sell things we no longer need but we don't need the money so I give them to charity shops instead. I prefer local causes to the big national charities with their disgustingly well paid CEOs. Hospices, the Southport lifeboat, Lions etc.
I'm only happy when it rains....

Charity bags put through our door are bin bags, too many are fraudulant and too many are scooped up off the street by ne'r do wells. We always take to the the charity, even there there are those who work there for their own ends.

Oh so true! I even had a Charity collection for some bags that I had filled - and before they took the bags (mostly clothing and books) they rooted through them, obviously disinterested in the clothing and books.

Yes I donate both to Queens Court and the BHF. But I've never bought from any charity shop , not that I wouldn't as you can find some nice items in them as often seen on "Dichensons real deal ".
