There is no need for a dog to urinate or deficate in the street or park, they just need good training, & patience.
Likewise, and poo bags carried just in case and taken home to be disposed of. It may take a while being in the garden, my command was Hurry Up, waiting for the dog to perform then praise it when it does and hence every time you go out a quick trip into the garden proves a stress free walk.

I get so annoyed when other dog walkers allow their dogs to do their jobs when out. My 8 month old has never fouled when out, from when we got him we started to train him to use the garden area at home.

That is a bit rich! You are dictating to non dog owners what they should or should not wear because YOU want to own a dog that YOU are not prepared to keep on a lead. You take your dog into a public park and believe that your dog is justified in jumping up at people? If your dog damaged my clothing - you would wish that you did not own a dog at all! What will you say to a dog owner who lets their dog off the lead just as you do, and rips your dog to pieces? Would you then demand that they should have had THEIR dog on a lead? It is for YOU to have responsibility to other people, for you to take care that other people are not put out, just because YOU choose to own a dog. You have to accept full responsibility for your own actions!

So you were responding as a hypothetical dog owner based on your friends experiences? In which case, I do hope that you make it clear to your friends how other people view their lack of responsibility in the public domain and if hitting the pocket is the only way to gain any response from them, then so be it!

You don't own a dog but you'll be walking it every morning for an hour?
I don't own a horse, but I'll be riding one every morning for 5 minutes near the pier entrance.
