    What a Gorgeous day for..

    A bike ride.

Just deciding on where to go.

Folding bike trip as we have pretty much explored the areas in distance from home.

Apart from this we are eagerly anticipating the reopening of the Lumb Viaduct as a cycling route this summer.

Just checked it out on my OS map of South Pennines (Sheet: OL21). Looks to be a pleasant short ride, I make it approx 6 miles. Makes good use of the Burnley Way, L & L towpath and a former rail trackbed.

Btw, thanks for link to railwaypaths. I've ridden a number of converted rail routes over the years, most recently the Two Tunnels route near Bath. Someone's put a video of it on youtube.

We clocked 8 miles on the electric bikes taking a couple of detours to look at interesting historical points and a Woodland park.

Did I tell you I had an affinity for Viaducts?Just love their history and magnificence.

This disused train track is great to cycle on.

There are some wonderful viaducts about...When riding the Way of the Roses a couple of years back, I took a day out to go off-route from Settle, to admire the Ribblehead Viaduct at close quarters.

There's an ex-rail viaduct worth visiting/riding over, on the excellent cycleway from Lancaster up to Crook of Lune. As an added bonus, you will also pass under the very grand aqueduct of the Lancaster Canal, where it crosses the river....A side-shoot cycle path from the main cycleway, allows for riding over the aqueduct itself - which certainly has fine views.

We walked around the Ribblehead Viaduct last year as we visited other attractions near by.

Lune we visited recently with the car.
Sometimes it is hard to decide walk or cycle.

Got another cycle ride today(viaduct included).

Sounds like a pleasing ride you had there .....It's quite a while since I was on a bike in that area - an old college mate from Blackburn lived just up the road.

Today I followed the L & L Canal towpath to Wigan, picking up a few bits from GoOutdoors. Burscough was certainly jumping when I passed, with the Artisans Market on at the Wharf (1st and 3rd Sundays in the month) and Summer Fete at the cricket ground.

Not sure about making it to the Ironman Challenge, I haven't planned out next Sunday as yet. Am getting my share of cycle spectating via TV at the mo, watching the Tour de France on Ch24 Freeview.
