Those of us old enough to remember, clearly remember the moon landing, but how many remember the unmanned Soviet lander which crashed into the moon at the same time, I certainly didn't.
Watching BBC Breakfast from Jodrell Bank this morning, I didn't know that while Jodrell Bank was tracking the American moon landing they were also tracking the Soviet unmanned lander and "saw" the Soviet lander crash, actually sharing data with the then USSR regarding their lander as they attempted to understand what went wrong.
When we know that Jodrell Bank could and did track events during the space race, why do so many still believe that the moon landing never happened ?

This week I watched a BBC World News programme on which they mentioned that Jodrell Bank tracked both missions. Up until then, I didn't know about the Soviet mission either.

Plus the live footage of the landing/first steps that we all watched didn't come from an American tracking station. The imagery from the California station was of such poor quality that NASA decided to use the superior footage from backup stations in Australia.
