It's a wonderful gesture, but somewhat limiting when it comes to the family shopping.
We still need to buy and trade.
The spirit of Buying British is to grow and produce from the land and locally if at all possible.
I try and do this with local 'fresh' produce accepting some of the ingredients to aid this have no choice to import.
In the last buy British drive Global Warming was not part of the guilt trip.
Technology in keeping and delivering local fresh produce was underdeveloped.
Like you I am willing to give it a go.

My Shops only sell British.
My China shop only sells FIne English Bone China
My Antique Shoip only sells English Antiques.
And remember an antique shop is a true GREEN save the planet no plastic here shop.
Recycle - buy antiques. and in most cases an antique pieces of furniture is less expencicve than new.

Hard to know what is truly British nowadays.
British Airways pays company tax in Spain.
Boots in tax haven Switzerland
Cadburys paid no corporation tax as subsidiary of US Kraft based in Switzerland
Big business could fund so much of the UK budget but gets away with it all

They did not destroy British industry , what did is the strikes in the 60s 70s. And China producing cheaper steel . And any way unemployment in the UK is currently at one of its lowest .

Unemployment is only diminished by Zero Hour contracts, the total number in work is achieved by counting the people who have multiple employers, what needs to be counted is the Under Employment rate, those who want more work than they get.

There's a lot to be said for having more than one employer...If one employer fails, you don't lose 100% of your income.
