...Yes, the rich will become richer, but if they are invited to settle in the UK, where do you think they will bank their money? in British banks to be used to increase the government coffers, while creating new business in the UK, which would also require people to be employed. Take away these potential investors - as the Labour wants to do - and it will need every man, woman and child working for peanuts to bring about a fair standard of the economy. But understandably - you have always voted Labour, and you cannot accept that their manifesto belongs to yesterday - in the past! We have now moved on!
    Was this for me?

OK, from a right wing point of view, I can see how you believe all of that. It's exactly what the hard right has been feeding people for decades.

From my personal point of view, and for a lot of others, the EU isn't this wonderful Utopia where we all hold hands and sing Kumbaya. I could write chapters on what is wrong with the EU. But there is a reason why the vast majority of the left and centre of politics, and a good many centre-right politicians, don't want Brexit nor a no deal. To the point where in a few weeks we may have a constitutional crisis.

I'm not going through every point, we've thoroughly exhausted that in thread after thread. From the perspective of a democratic socialist, I don't see how any form of Brexit is going to make my life, nor the life of everyone I know, any better. On account of I don't know any oligarchs or billionaires. I can see how it could make life a lot worse for 99% of people in this country.

Let's take the NHS for example. The Tories are already selling chunks of that off. Trump has made it clear that any trade deals will have to involve our health service. There is no way in this world that is a good thing. Our greatest achievement as a country in the hands of US health insurance? No thanks.

As far as the Labour manifesto is concerned, it has been proven over and over that the economy has been healthier with a Labour government. Again, we've gone back and forth in thread after thread.

There's a shitstorm coming in a few weeks, to the point of Her Maj getting involved, an interim government or a government of national unity to extend A50. Interesting times.

Engage brain it might help you not appear so daft.

You're still laughing? You need to get a life. What on earth is wrong with you?

    From Labour's website:

    Our alternative plan for Brexit
Labour’s alternative plan will put your job and your rights first:

A new customs union with an active industrial strategy will create manufacturing jobs in areas that have long been forgotten by the Tories.
A strong relationship with the single market will boost our economy, and a Labour government will make sure working people, not big corporations, see the benefits.
With our deal, worker and consumer rights are not up for negotiation. That means no falling behind on job security and pay. And no chlorinated chickens.
When it comes to EU nationals, our position is simple: your future here is secure.
And unlike the Tories, we won’t turn our backs on the desperate refugees risking their lives to cross the English Channel.

Jeremy Corbyn has challenged the next Tory leader to hold another referendum before taking Britain out of the EU, saying Labour will campaign for Remain.

Corbyn says Labour would back remain in Brexit referendum

I support those things. I support Labour on the economy and virtually every other policy.

As I said, I don't particularly support Corbyn. But the rest I do support. Although why you need to pursue this, I'm not sure.

You're getting a bit creepy now.

I've made it crystal clear that I don't support Brexit. I do support Labour. The vast majority of the membership and MPs don't support Brexit either. And a paragraph in the manifesto from 2017 doesn't mean every Labour member supports Brexit. It's a manifesto, not a manual that every member has sworn a blood oath on.

Your logic is along the lines of most serial killers are left handed, you are left handed, so you must be a serial killer. Utter nonsense.

I can see how everything in your little world is twisted logic and skewed thought processes to desperately appear somehow triumphant, or that you've out-debated someone, but reality, which seems to be in short supply with you, is not like that.

I won't continue this pointless exchange with you. I've stated my opinion. Accept it or shove it, I don't care either way.

Can I just remind you that none of the big parties wanted Brexit. David Cameron in his stupidity left that to the general public. Who fell for the muppet with a pint in his hand and a big red bus with lies.

I suppose in your little world we are all supposed to bow to those with alleged superior intelligence, to the ultra wealthy and be grateful for what little we get.

Yet there was a LARGE majority that didn't want to go for Brexit. I'm fairly sure every one of them knows more about the implications of Brexit than any of us do.

BBC News has been running articles about a no-deal Brexit all day. Quite informative, but nothing really new.

Except for the story that the big food manufacturers and suppliers want the government to pause competition laws to avoid food shortages. I think he last time that happened was when banks were allowed to communicate during the global crash in 2008. Or petrol in 2012 (not entirely sure on that).

It sounds like a good idea. If the major operators want to put their differences aside to ensure food supplies go to where they are needed, they must see the situation as possibly pretty dire. I see the food shortages as self fulfilling really. We tend to pick the shelves clean if Tesco shuts on Christmas Eve and opens on Boxing Day.

Also according to the Beeb, the government's highest priorities are the stockpiling of medicines and water treatment chemicals, as we don't produce a good amount of the former and any of the latter.

Not a good idea if they collude to keep prices up!

They are not known for their altruism.

Yes, there's always that possibility. That's why the competition laws were passed in the first place, I guess. Of course, part of their problem is the possibility of food sitting in warehouses in one part of the country, when the demand is in another. They are looking out for their businesses, first and foremost.

I think if the prices started shooting up, the Competition and Markets Authority would slap fines on them. If they collude, they get fined anyway. I think they're asking the government to suspend the fines if necessary.
