I saw it last Sunday, one of Oliver's better shows. Roared laughing at that, and "simply boil one clown".

Love John Oliver's show. The second half usually goes into detail with matters I haven't a clue about, but the first half is very entertaining.

I enjoy Bill Maher's show too. Again, I don't always know the finer points of what he's discussing, but he's ruthless when he goes after Trump. Fairly balanced, as he does have Republicans on too.

I've loved him since first seeing him when he played the Senior British Correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. That's another show I miss. Since Stewart left in 2015 the show doesn't have the same appeal.

I've watched him religiously since his 1993 show Politically Incorrect. It was cancelled due to controversy in 2002. The cancellation turned out to be a godsend for Maher as HBO picked him up. Without the puritanism of the regular US TV networks, Maher was given carte blanche to speak his mind. He's brilliant.

I dip into The Daily Show now and again. It's on in the wee small hours now, so doesn't always record. It's a bit hit and miss.

I've only watched Real Time since it started broadcasting on Sky Atlantic in 2016. He's excellent. Love 'New Rules', his dictator checklist, and his closing statement is always spot on.

I wish we had political satire shows of this standard. It isn't as though we haven't the material.

We've Frankie Boyle, my personal favourite, but he isn't on often enough. 'Have I Got News For You' is tired now, and has done far too much to advance the Cult of Boris. And The Mash Report, which hits the nail once every few episodes. I'd kill for a Charlie Brooker 'Weeklywipe' series back.

I'm not a fan of either JRM or BJ, but I have to say that I prefer JRM's louche body language to that of BJ's mardy kid. Slumped over on the bench, arms crossed hugging himself, that's exactly what he looks like.

The pair of them looked like Mardy Kids and both have been behaving like them for years.

It's a pity Spittin Image isn't still on, the way things have been going they could to a 24 hour Christmas Special!
