Nigel Farage at Southport last night

A packed house, with standing room only and a hell of a lot of sense from not only Mr. F himself (who is a very skillful narrator, having watched some of his speeches in Brussels) but also all of the other speakers.

We were told by one of the MEP's his amazement when taking up office of his entitlements, including free health care for himself and his entire family and an allowance of £4,000 per month to rent office space. When he advised he didn't need such an amount and enquired how he could reimburse the surplus, he was told it was fine, just use it how you wish. He tells us he is keeping a tab and will donate the surplus to a charity.

On the subject of being 'green,' he also told of the fleet of over 100 limousines that regularly ferry personnel to and from their destinations 'because they can!' It's no wonder they don't want the U.K. and its contributions to cease to be a part of the big bun fight.

The point was made that we are not 'crashing out' of Europe but merely leaving the EU (as will at least 2 other countries immediately we've gone) and having spoken to many of the major players, such as pharmaceutical companies, etc. etc. they are assured that they are more than happy to continue to deal with the U.K. alone, as indeed they did prior to the EU. Let's face it, why would anyone turn business away, i.e. such as India who are supplying over 50% of some of our most used medications. Even the majority of European countries would continue to deal with us, since to refuse to do so would only mean a loss of revenue and who, in business, would want that?

All in all, a very sensible debate and in light of the debacle that is parliament, government, politicians, etc. etc. right now, we need to get back to basics and for those who are purportedly speaking for us, the public, to listen to what we say and get it right. And let's not forget, it was because of what Nigel Farage was saying 3 years ago that the majority of this country voted to GET OUT and the government have certainly listened and acted on it - NOT!!!

There you go I went to a few pubs, horses for courses.

Mr Farage whilst having his place in history is being squeezed by Boris who has taken up the democracy cause.

Still last night the overwhelming discussion was about condemning the MP's for not getting it done from both remain and leave sides.

The LIb Dems meanwhile vote on completely overturning a referendum and huge parliamentary vote outcome.

Jo Swindle of the Liberally Undemocratic party seems apposite.

The Floral Hall was absolutely packed - a fantastic turnout! Everyone is of the same mind - Brexit won the referendum, and the whole affair should have been finished a couple of years ago.

Instead of that, it has involved numerous arguments between leading politicians, and plenty of previously unknown legal actions being brought. Imagine this occurring for every general election. Several people are of the mind that the EU are behind this latest issue in Parliament - the EU itself as poorly organised as it is - was not prepared, nor had planned for any member opting out. The EU would most certainly like Brexit to just go away! At present - it is rather like the lunatics running an asylum! Let Johnson get on with Brexit in his own way, providing his plans do not include some really idiotic, binding deal with the EU - I see no reason why anyone else should intervene.

Yes, but you've been blinded by the propaganda everybody will still want to trade with us but the problem is WTO Tarriffs, every time it is pointed out it is always shouted down as 'Project Fear' but the reality is Border inspections will cause delays which is an issue for fresh produce and Tariffs will raise costs an skew markets, issues which were reasons why we joined in the first place.

Who will be doing the border inspections ?

Won't removing tariffs be the point of doing deals ?

The often overlooked point is we pay tariffs now.

Currently all trade within the EU is tariff free, trade from out of the EU is either conducted under WTO rules or under a Trade Deal, 1st Nov all this will be under WTO rules.
The inspections will be done by a variety of departments, currently apart from the Border Agency they are not inspecting goods coming from Europe neither are the EU inspecting but they will be and that was one of the reasons we joined and we are not geared up for it.

As it currently stands we pay on items from outside the EU

12,651 import tariffs that form part of the External Tariff Wall.

from 16% on oranges, processed coffee 11.5% .

There is a 4.7 percent tariff on umbrellas having a telescopic shaft.

Even 15 percent tariff on unicycles.

This remoaner nonsense about tariffs is so one sided we have loads of them.

We already stop and search a cross section of imports for many reasons it has not crippled the system . Imports via road, rail and sea have many opportunities to put themselves in order to lessen any delay

The Brexiteers just won't accept the entire tariff system. No matter how many times it's been explained, no matter how many links to government sites you post.

We're going to do trade deals. And that's that. Regardless of the fact they take years to negotiate. No matter how intricate they are, and how tariffs can damage our own manufacturers, they just pretend they don't exist. It doesn't match the 'Global Britain striking out on our own' daydream. And now we've got Fat Al going to Brussels 'like the Incredible Hulk'. So no worries there, then.

    The trouble with selective quotes is they generally undo, we don't get everything from the EU which leaves us subject to the 12,561 tariffs I mentioned still as you say;

Yes dead simple, read the official requirements

    https://www.gov.uk/find-eu-exit-guidance-business

Don't forget much of our trade outside the EU is under agreements made through the EU, we currently have no trade agreements in our own right. In simple terms everything entering or leaving the country will be under WTO rules, applicable tariffs are already in place, one of the prime rulings behind WTO is preferential deals are not permitted unless part of a recognised trade deal.

Those are simple facts, we all know very well that importers to the UK will want any restrictions removed as quickly as possible, but this will need agreement between countries and governments, just how quickly do you expect that to happen?
