Oh! Just heard. The parents of the man killed, have recently been invited over to the USA, by the Sacoosa's lawyers. What is the betting the USA will try to buy them off?

Hopefully the truth surrounding this poor lads death will come out.
At a time when his parents probably just want to crawl back to bed and cry they are taking a miserable flight to New York to pursue this woman.

So much respect for these parents. Anne Sacoolas has said she will meet them while they are in the USA pursuing her extradition. They have stated the only way they will agree to meet her is on British soil. Good on them.

There does seem to be some mystery surrounding the incident, why is the US Govt being so secretive about a simple tragic road accident?
Also the parents seem to be traveling with the Press in tow, either by design or they are being hounded I do not know, it all seems peculiar.

The US aren't being secretive even Trump has mentioned them it's a big story in the US which is why the press is on the case looking for salacious tittle tattle.
The couple court publicity to further their quest for justice its a all a sorry saga.

When Trump mistakenly held his briefing notes towards the cameras, they were marked "Secret". It's something that he does quite often!
I'm sure that the Dunns were comforted by Trump's heartfelt words at the press meeting last week : "You know, those are the opposite roads. That happens. I won't say it ever happened to me, but it did. When you get used to driving on our system and then you're all of a sudden in the other system, where you're driving — it happens. Have to be careful — very careful."
Sad to say I think that appealing to Trump's better nature will be a waste of time. He doesn't have an empathetic bone in his body. Most of the reader comments on American media sites mirror my own opinion of the likelihood of Trump giving a damn. However the great majority also believe that Sakoolas should face the music in the UK.

Apparently the parents have been to The White House, met Trump and were offered a meeting with Saccoolas who was in an adjoining room but refused as they thought (probably rightly) that it was an ambush.
I still wonder why they are there.

Trump is just a cheap gangster who thinks everything (including foreign policy) can be 'fixed' with a stunt or a deal.
I would guess if Trump had thrown the door open to reveal Ms Sacoolas, he would have shouted "Surprise Surprise!".

There must be something we aren't being told.
On one hand we hear Trump hasn't an empathetic bone in his body, heartless etc.
So why hasn't he thrown this woman under a bus to bolster his authority ? it would help his poll ratings the Americans are unhappy with her as well.

You've got to wonder what the hell he was thinking. Not much actually, I suspect. He doesn't come across as he has a shred of empathy for anyone or anything.

Trump won the 2016 election with 46% of the popular vote. His core base represented about 30% of that vote. His base is now estimated to be 24% of registered Republicans. Since taking office he has focused all of his policies on keeping the promises he made during his campaign. Whether or not they are beneficial to the country doesn't matter. Whether or not he has actually accomplished them doesn't matter either. He either claims that he has, or blames the Dems.
The point is that if he mandated that Anne Sacoolas must return to the UK to face British justice, this would be viewed by his base as a betrayal of America, and an American. And there's no way that Trump would risk alienating them. His core base isn't large enough to assure a win in the 2020 election, but without them he is well and truly scuppered.
Those on the left of the political spectrum, independents and moderate Republicans, are far more inclined to agree that Sacoolas should return to the UK. The trouble is Trump doesn't look beyond the adoring crowds at his rallies, and see that without support from other registered Republicans, he's also well and truly scuppered.

I think you have to look no further than Trump's border policy of separating children from their parents to see his lack of empathy. Deporting parents, leaving children in the US in appalling conditions, and not having a clue who or where their parents are.
.........but he loves babies

He obviously doesn't like the competition - only enough room for one big baby when he's around.
