Because he knew he didn't have to, the casting couch has been up and running since the invention of the movies,.

Harvey Weinstein to go on trial in Los Angeles
Harvey Weinstein will go on trial on Monday in a Los Angeles court, where he is facing 11 further charges of abuse.
The 70-year-old movie producer is currently serving 23 years in jail in New York, after being convicted there for sexual assaults, including rape.

Looks like he's lost a bit of weight. The 'New York State prison' diet he's on appears to be working the trick. Hopefully, it's going to be confirmed that he's to spend the rest of his life on that special diet plan.

I suppose justice needs to be done but pursuing the rat seems to have some diminishing returns.
I wonder if we will ever know all that went on with him and I have little doubt many others taking advantage of people's desperation to "make it"

Because this has nothing to do with sex. Rapists like Weinstein get off on power and control over women. As a powerful Hollywood mogul he was in the position where he could make or break a woman's career. He enjoyed seeing otherwise strong women giving in to his demands. Consensual or paid for sex wouldn't have satisfied his perverted needs.

Afterthought: Epstein is another example. On the promise of education, travel, and a life of luxury, Epstein used Ghislaine Maxwell to lure vulnerable girls from dysfunctional families and/or poverty. He got off on the power he held over them. If you have the stomach to read what he did to them, you'll see that intercourse didn't necessarily take place. It was all about dominance.
We need to stop thinking that rapists are guys who just want the same pleasure that normal guys get from having sex.

The unfortunate truth is the mainly young talented pretty women would not have been available to him any other way.
They certainly weren't likely to go "on the game" and allow him to pay, money was clearly not an issue for him.
He abused his "power" with those desperate to get into the films he oversaw.
The industry was so perverted that many knew and turned a blind eye.
They should be exposed as with our own Prince of Darkness who many will know what he did, when, and with whom, they have kept quiet.
Without their network of support, they would struggle.

I have to disagree with you on this. Be they old, fat, ugly, or dumb as a stump, wealthy men have always found it easy to get pretty young arm charms or wives. You don't have to look too hard to find examples. Trump & Melania... would she have fallen into his arms if he was your average Joe? The late Hugh Hefner, literally zillions of beautiful young women willingly slipping into his bed. Practically every aged rock star still attracts willing young women.
These wealthy old men aren't looking to force their partners/wives into having sex. It's a consensual act, not rape. I'm sure that some of the women have a hell of a job trying to stifle their gag reflex, but as far as the man goes, he has a willing partner who seems to be enjoying the experience as much as he is.
Who is this?

It has been the same for over 100 years, even back in the days of the silent movies Hollywood was a cesspit of debauchery.

I suppose it's not beyond comprehension that some were happy with the "transaction" and we mustn't forget it's not just young women.
