I just think it's a ridiculously premature reaction, given the fact that it's one Parliamentary seat that he should never have considered he'd win. Yes, lots of local council seats, but since when have the PLP been that concerned there? Not in my experience, anyway.
The CLP Whatsapp should be white hot tonight. They won't be happy. Starmer isn't the most popular chap there, especially after the Liverpool mayoral debacle.
I'm getting the popcorn in for this. Its either Whatsapp and Twitter or watching Liverpool v Southampton on a Mexican TV channel. Might even crack open a beer.
Can I field a shuffle spoiler on Shadow Chancellor exchequer?

And of course Dianne Abbott

Dianne Abbott? Yes, I remember the press crucifying her for getting numbers wrong. And drinking a can on a train.
We've come a long way since then. Politicians can get away with murder nowadays.
And as gaza said, nobody cares.
Some enlightening comments underneath that video, though.

One thing career politicians learn is not to lose temper or shout or ridicule one's opponents point of view especially on live interview.
It does put the non career politicians at a disadvantage.
I think they do care about politicians getting facts wrong.

I thought I watched it all. I must have missed her shouting or losing her temper.
I think a chunk of the electorate, again as gaza said, don't even care about corruption, lies or every other way to break ministerial code. Or the law. I haven't heard actual facts enter into anything for some time.
I guess it points to the moral turpitude of politicians, their supporters. Or both.
There's a lot of it about.

It was a general observation though I am pretty sure Angela Raynor raised her voice.

Not much. Not as much as Neil, anyway.
I guess when men do it they are usually described as being 'assertive'. You know how that goes, I'm sure. We've all been there.

As I said, we could put a million videos of MPs looking complete twunts. At least she tried to stay on topic.

It seems so. So going off the current incumbent opposite, she can kick back, disappear for months and nobody will notice.
Not a bad job, it appears. Well done Ange. Not bad for someone "...pregnant at 15 and thick as pig-****."

Don't be silly
The lady has as much right as any woman to follow her dreams.
What I am acknowledging is a fact.
Labour want a rep who has had 'a proper job' and not born with an advantage in schooling or wealth.
Therefore people like AR have a learning curve with how they come across in interviews.
Even Dianne Abbott got her facts wrong did not shout or implode under the stress.

I'd far rather they were being themselves. Not 'learn' how to fit a generic politician model.
I still didn't see where she was shouting.
Diane Abbott got her facts wrong. How many other politicians get their facts wrong under pressure? All of them? I wonder what it is about Diane Abbott, award winning Parliamentary speaker, and recipient of Human Rights awards, and successful black, opinionated woman, that brings so many people back to her getting some numbers wrong? I mean, just on here she must get 300,034 974,000 mentions. Oh, sorry, that's another wrong number.
Probably the same reason she gets constant rape threats, death threats and 10 times the abuse of any other politician.

The truth is that she was right, the Tories have reduced CGT it was Income Tax rates when Cameron became PM, it is now 18%, Neil was wrong, he raised his voice more than she did and he was doing the talking over and interrupting.
She'll eat Gove alive.

I can't see him getting the better of Rayner. Even with a nose full of his Columbian marching powder. Despite her not 'sounding' right to delicate Tory ears, you don't have her start in life and rise through the ranks of a trade union by being a pushover.
I still think Gove harbours loftier ambitions, so now his pal Cummings is back in the fold, it should be interesting to watch his next move. I think he'll pick his battles carefully. Rayner getting the better of him in Parliament wouldn't be a good look.
I think she'd do the best job back in education. I don't think she'd see it as a step down.
