Note to seivad
seivad …in response to
(BTW: Why do you go through hoops formatting replies when it's far easier, and far clearer for people to read, if you simply quote the comment you're replying to?)
You are the not first to remark on the readability of my quotes without 'QUOTE'. I don't see that it's a problem, but I welcome your feedback. Admittedly, the formatting functions generally speaking make posting simpler. So, why decline the use of QUOTE? The short answer is because it pleases me.
QUOTE is clear and simple on many occasions, but becomes unwieldy by times. You will have read posts 'nested' within posts where embedded quotes disappear on subsequent iterations. When the originally quoted lines are subsequently omitted, then the intention or meaning becomes less easy to glean. In short, there are limits.
Perhaps you wonder why I did not respond to your (bracketed) afterthought in the thread where it appeared. Do you? I put this message into a new thread which is specifically addressed to you, seivad. Will others look in? (Please all announce, if you visit.)
I accept that posts I have initiated are generally of limited interest to the forum's members. I ride my hobby horses here not least, to explore the forum's usefulness generally, to me. If I was both more prolific and more ambitious, I would create a blog about Southport. However, in view of the aspects I would choose to blog, it would likely fail to generate enough interest to justify the effort.
Q Local Southport forum as a modest example of the social networking phenomenon. The forum is not altogether without the addictive qualities of Facebook and Twitter among others. That might be one explanation for some of the serial, compulsive posting.
Like you, I read posts and I am often moved to reply. Replies to other posters' varied contributions have outnumbered posts in threads I have either initiated, or which touch on my particular interests. I guess that makes me one of Southport forum's serial posters; does it?

You are free to post in whatever format you prefer! I find that when reading your posts, I invariably scroll back to the post number you're responding to in order to read the whole post.

No, I didn't wonder why you started a new thread. I assumed that it was to ensure that I read your response. I can see the number of views on every thread. Thus far this thread has had one view, me! Others are either not interested, or giving us some privacy. I'm guessing it's the former.

I can't say that I've noticed a large number of posts from you, so I thought I would check. Yes, at an average of 5.23 posts per day, it would appear that you are a serial poster. Said has 7.89 per day, so there's your challenge!

Note to sandGroundZero;
I'm more impressed that you've managed to create 500+ posts since January. I've been here for 2 years and I post fairly regularly yet have only managed to compile 360 posts. I'm slackin'!

It is a strange exercise to go through to make your posts less readable.
I to skip over the posts because of the odd font and format.

Same here - I rarely read his/her posts and now we've had a narcissistic 'because it pleases me' I'll avoid them even more.
To be honest, from the outset I thought it was another alias of said and still do

From the outset I thought it was a previous poster... but it's not Said.

Said and family have never been that adept at formatting. Said's many C&Ps are usually the only time you will see formatted text on his/her posts... and that's because (s)he doesn't know how to C&P without the source format and embedded links.

I remember pointing out to Said a year or so ago that it was noticeable that a Said post would contain a blizzard of text but never a video, picture, image, graph, etc. I think it was about a week later that a Said post appeared complete with a picture. As best as I recall, it was of Tesco.

I also used to wonder why it never posted graphics. It took him/her quite a while before (s)he figured out how to do it, or maybe asked a family member to help him/her out. One Said family image sticks in my mind. It was taken in Sainsbury's and he was on the picture. Another member immediately recognized him, named him and referred to his mother as a loony!

I agree with seivad that the Said account isn't capable of producing sGZ's posts.
It makes me wonder what happened to the BS Sniffer acccount. That was running at around 6 posts a day for months, then just suddenly stopped, with no peep heard from it from around about late December last year.

As part of my studies in asked to read scientific literature and decipher the 'take home message' from the script. Some of it goes over my head & is set up to do so to see if we can still fathom the meaning even when we don't understand the mechanisms involved. I seem to be doing okay at this, but then, I read your posts several times and still have absolutely no idea what the point of them is?

The OP's point about "embedded quotes" disappearing "on subsequent iterations" is a fair one.
I think the OP's overriding 'take home message' can be found throughout, as in:
"Will others look in? (Please all announce, if you visit.)"
"Q Local Southport forum as a modest example..."
"...because it pleases me."
"...to explore the forum's usefulness generally, to me."
"If I was both more prolific and more ambitious..."

Hmmm.
The Sainsburys on Lord Street, by any chance?
It's a shop / supermarket I've used only sparingly, but a mother and son combination who I've seen shopping there multiple times have now come to mind.
He's prematurely balding, slightly gormless looking and has that air of someone who's keen to be noticed (the ostentatatious do-gooder persona); while the mother (who he looks like) catches the eye because of her forehead.
I specifically registered them one day when she was snappily chastising him by the fruit and veg section as you go in. It was something to do with bananas, as best as I recall. It amounted to a wee bit of a scene, and he looked a combination of very annoyed by it, resigned to it, and hideously embarrassed about being dressed down in public by his mother. Which is fair enough, I suppose!
Could I have been feeling a bit sorry for Said Junior that day!
