Houses in this area have skyrocketed since we moved here in 2016. Our house would sell for at least 54% more than we paid for it 5.5 years ago. If secondary residence owners sell these days, they would have a nice tax bill!
Only mention as people in Cornwall have joined the Welsh in objecting to
holiday homes as the there are no affordable homes for the next generation of house buyers.
Been quite a topic this year.

That's a big problem. I've edited my post to the correct percentage increase in the value of our house since June 2016. It's a whopping 185.7%.
This is fine for city dwellers who are moving here as year round residents, their city house will realise more than enough capital to buy a house here, and leave them a pile of cash to play with. But for local 'home grown' people, it's way beyond their means. Even renting a home is way overpriced. Many young couples are left with no option but to live in their parent's basement.
The second homes vary between cottages that have been in the family for generations, and newer massive mansions built by the uber rich. Some of the larger properties are rented out when the owners aren't using them, but the majority are used by the owners at weekends and for Summer vacations.
Our house prices have skyrocketed due to an aging population, and people like us who have retired and moved to this little slice of heaven. Covid has also had an impact in people wanting to move to the country. People have also retired early and got the hell out of Dodge, AKA Toronto. Some people have also moved here and are commuting to their jobs. Rather them than me, once you're on the highway you're gridlocked for hours. It took us almost 4 hours to get home from Toronto the other day.
It's the old supply vs demand situation. The housing inventory has always been low here. Most people buy a plot of land and have a house built for them. Again, beyond the means of many locals. They are going to have to consider building affordable housing in some of the towns up here, but the few towns that there are here, are very small and there's a lot of local opposition to changing the character of their little towns.

I know the reality is very different, but that looks gorgeous to me.
I'd be fed up of it in a few days, but I do love snow.

I unlike you can’t post on closed threads so
I will have to post on this love in one with your group pal that pulls up one year old Posts, the keywords that you repeated as a reason that other thread was closed were keywords that were used against me by a group of posters and that they kept repeating alleging that I had been racist and I had not. Your impartiality caused you to jump on your friends bandwagon and warn me for repeating what another user said but you didn’t warn them, you allow this group to call me these offensive keywords but you don’t want me to defend them and I do dare to challenge you on this as I thought a moderator should be impartial never mind join in with the same group years ago to identify and ridicule a poster like said. I think it’s wrong that a moderator should engage in this and support this bullying and abuse then cry when I repeat these keywords in my defence explaining this over many threads. I haven’t bothered to look if you have called me racist but allowing many others of the same group time after time to do it is just as bad.

Once again, let me stress that the only posts that I've removed, edited, or issued a warning, are posts that were reported by several other posters, many of whom are not members of the so called Groupthink. I can't get much more impartial than this. I can assure you that if I moderated based on my personal opinion alone, there would be far fewer of your posts left on the forum.
As for my listing a group of words. The sole purpose was to demonstrate that many of the words could trigger an automatic alert. It wasn't an accusation, I'm fully aware of the context in which you were using them. Another possibility is that someone who reads the forum, has reported the thread to Google. It could be a member, or a guest. I think that it's more likely to be the latter. Members would report it via the forum.
You're architect of your own demise. You have posted racist remarks, and an extremely offensive, erroneous term for men whose sexual orientation differs from yours. I don't read every thread on the forum, and I usually skip your posts. I wouldn't even be aware of the majority of them were it not for complaints.
Said? Don't make me laugh. He, she, it, has been trolling this forum under countless names since long before you joined this site. Said has caused a lot of trouble, even to the point of terrifying a female member by trying to find out where she lived. She was scared witless as she and her young daughter lived alone. If I see a nasty troll, I'll call them out.
Any further posts re. your never ending martyrdom will be removed.
