Sooner the better,as players can be MORE than the 2 metre minimum distance between each other while playing, and as long as buggies are NOT used to go round the courses, and only one designated player removes the flag, and then discinfects it when it is replaced, then there should be no contact..The same with people who want to go fishing,as they are usually more than the minimum distance apart as well..As long as the distance is kept MORE than 2 metres away when doing any form of outdoor exercise,or just going out for fresh air, then why can't people go out and enjoy themselves, instead of staying in during the lockdown, and as long as people do NOT travel too far from their homes to enjoy some exercise,or relaxation, then I personally would not see why this cannot be done.

It is safer to travel as most accidents happen within a mile or so of home, the chance of contracting the virus in open air is minimal, it is face to face contact that is the problem. The Government still doesn't have a plan, a couple of days ago it was going to be Thursday now it is going to be next Sunday when the roadmap is revealed, probably only partially, I expect that The People will tell the Government it is over, we are being treated like idiots and they won't stand for it especially if it is warm next weekend.

The current rules aren’t there to “keep us happy” they are there to protect us directly as well as stopping our NHS system from collapsing.
I really don’t think we are being treated like idiots, although many are acting like idiots by socialising, having house parties etc when the guidance says different.
Thankfully the Nightingale Hospitals haven’t really been needed yet, but they should act as a stark warning what could happen (and more besides) if we come out of “lockdown” too soon.
Its a fine balance between relaxing the restrictions and getting the economy moving, too soon and we could go backwards very quickly and end up in an even worse situation than the one we are currently heading for.

Many it seems want a personalised instruction from "Du Guvenment"
The simple message is clearly too complicated for some.
The majority understand that this new virus is stretching the worlds brains and resources and that does not allow a timetable to be published a month in advance as we are all (well some of us) literally learning every day.
The Government telling you to stay in and watch telly, read a book or clean up etc is hardly onerous.

I've heard nothing about courses being open . !!
I invested in a driving net and mat , been practicing in my back garden daily weather permitting and my putting on the back lawn .
REST IN PEACE THE 96.

There was an article on the other site about the Culture Secretary saying that the first activities to be released from lockdown would be golf, fishing and bowls.
All of these can be safely done if social distancing is observed - the only thing against the rules at the moment is the trip to the venue.

With most shops now being allowed to open, and some isolation restrictions being relaxed, then they are possibly the worst places of a persons chances of getting the infection, more so than someone getting into their own vehicles to go out to a local golf course,or going fishing, the chances of getting an infection would be less in doing so,as long as these people doing this keep their distances from each other, and taking any necessary precautions,as in sanitising any equipment they use before and after using them, and as I stated in a previous reply, designate a single player to replace the golf flags on the holes played,to prevent any possible spread of contamination with other players on the golf course..As for any anglers, the distances between anglers is usually MORE than the minimum 2 metre distance that was recommended by the government.

I go on a stillwater so it doesn't have a closed season. I've been an angler for more than 50 years!
I would add that there is very little freshwater fishing that is free to the public, even if they have a rod licence. Even the canals are controlled by angling clubs, so you have to pay a membership fee in addition to the rod licence.

Thats because most journeys are within a few miles of home, and almost without exception all journeys include some driving within a mile of home, regardless of length.
As for the OP, too many people will take the **** and go golfing with friends in my opinion.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there.
You could quite easily go for a round of golf with a playing partner, and keep a lot more than 2 metres apart at all times, but unfortunately we have to take account of the 'idiot factor' here.

the problem is once you start making exceptions for golf, fishing, surfing etc etc the lockdown becomes useless.....and everybody will carry on as normal....just sit tight for a bit longer and most things will come back...apart from sadly pubs, restaurants, buses and trains...

I agree, even though not going fishing is hugely frustrating - I fish on a 'members only' lake which can only be accessed via a padlocked gate, so you don't even get 'passers by'.
