Recycling Centres.
As no recycling centres in west lancs are open today will staff at Southport and Bootle centres be checking log books, driving licences, utility bills etc to ensure the council tax payers of Sefton are not paying for residents of Scarisbrick, Burscough, Halsall, Ormskirk and other nearby ares of Lancashire to dispose of their waste ?.

Valid point !
Just been by Tesco roundabout, and the end of the queue for the tip is almost at the Tesco's roundabout on Southport Rd.
There is a diversion in place as well, you go in at the other entrance at the back of B&Q

Please post a link to the regulation stating that non Sefton residents are not allowed to use a Sefton recycling centre.

All the HWRC sites in Merseyside use ANPR cameras, and are recorded. I've never been asked for evidence in Merseyside, except when I was driving a van (I'd already applied for a permit). I've worked as a consultant at some of these sites...in Chester and West Cheshire they would ask people for evidence if they had brought a lot of waste, or had a a trailer, otherwise there was a form that had to be filled in declaring that you were a resident...which were followed up.

The tip at southport is run by Violia under contract to the Merseyside Waste Authority. That is financed by the residents of Merseyside . Iv no wish to pay for bin men to empty bins in Ormskirk nor do i wish to pay for waste from outside the borough to be disposed of. Believe it or not it is not free to dispose of waste. It costs a fortune.
Any waste that ends up at Southport tip is disposed of at the expense of Sefton Council Tax payers.
Not at the expense of residents of Ormskirk,

So you can't find anywhere on the internet where it says non Sefton Council tax payers are not allowed to use the tip ? Conversely nowhere on the Lancs web site stating this tip is only for Lancashire Council Tax payers use ?

I can't begin to fathom how awful is must be going through life with such a suspicious mindset, constantly fretting that somebody from another town might be getting one over on you.
Even if anybody did drive from Ormskirk with a few bags in their boot, so what? Who cares?
I have an idea for you: There is no shortage of injustice in this world, why don't you try focusing your anger somewhere worthwhile?

Do you think the queue would be shorter if they were checking everybody's council tax bills?

Well if you ever have a skip put on your drive late one afternoon ready to fill next day ,and you get up next morning to find someone has put an old three piece suite
In it during the night. I wonder what your attitude would be regarding paying to shift someone elses rubbish.

Bad analogy. Please try again
If somebody puts a three piece suite in your skip, that is its entire capacity gone.
This is more akin to somebody putting an empty crisp packet in your skip.
Explain how we could police this in a way that doesn't make the queues at the tip even longer?

Policing it is easy. On all approach roads to the tip signage indicating the facility is for Sefton council tax payers only, proof of address is required. The guy in the kiosk who raises the barrier could check it as he does now check van permits. As for similar to a crisp packet in a skip maybe so. But i bet half the vehicles there to day were from outside the sefton boundry. That adds up to thousands of pounds extra for the council at a time when they are strapped for cash. If you think cut backs over the last ten years have been bad you aint seen nothing yet. Our kids and grandkids will be paying for this for the next 30 years.

for gods sake just let people use the tips....if anyone is turned away they will just fly tip and it will cost a fortune to clear up.....in the grand scheme of things checking ids and bills is pathetic.....no one is going to drive a long distance to dump some rubbish...

Reports of 4 hour waits and queues of over 100 vehicles.
Hope it was worth the wait.

Sefton 'used to' locate large skips around the Borough (free to use)
The Ainsdale one was located just off Heathfield Rd, wonder why they don't start that service off again ?
