Why is the title of the Visiter mis-spelled?
I've lived in Southport for 23 years and no one has ever been able to tell me why the Visiter newspaper is spelled the way it is. Why is it not Visitor? Someone must know....

Because when the paper was founded "visiter" was legitimate alternative way of spelling "visitor".
The paper originally used to list the names of people who were visiting the town

Always thought it was because the paper, when delivered, is visited upon you.

It's dumped our house then dumped in the bin so perhaps it should be called something else?

Too cruel!
Think heritage such a loss to loose a local newspaper.
Be glad of reading such trivial reading matter.
Less stressful than reading what goes on in Greater Gunchester.

Does anyone still receive the Visiter? We've not had one for years, didn't think the free one was still going.

But they warned that ‘no person with an offensive ailment will be allowed to bathe’.
AND are they having a laugh with the name here?
