Pay and display and council car parking charges in Southport, Formby and across Sefton will be back in force from next week (Monday, May 18).
Charges at all car parks and on-street parking spots administered by Sefton Council have been free since the coronavirus outbreak began in March.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that some coronavirus lockdown measures would be eased with some businesses, including garden centres and estate agents, would be reopening, although with strict social distancing measures in place.
Pay and display and car parking charges, which have been suspended for the past few months, will now come back into force next week.
A spokesperson for Sefton Council said: “Many Sefton Council car parks have remained open during lockdown.
“With the exception of park and ride and multi-storey car parks, all other council-run car parks will be open next week and charges will apply to these car parks and on-street parking.

Good, hope they can do something about
lazy cretins who believe it's okay to drive down Chapel St to ATM's.

How about nobbling inconsiderate people for parking on pavements too.
While we're on the subject of selfish motorists, perhaps the ones who sit for ages in parked cars with their engines running, forcing pedestrians to breathe their fumes, could think about switching them off. This also applies at level crossings.

The parking jackals may as well oversee the death of the Town Centre.
Hopefully any tentative attempts to restart the moribund towns retail economy will be nipped in the bud and people encouraged to go elsewhere or shop online.
Double the fines,
just ten minutes over should be treated as a criminal offence and the frivolous shoppers carted off to prison.
Don't let the customers settle, treat them like feral pigeons.
While their at it lets import more mud for the beach far too many are treating this town as a holiday resort its got to stop.

the town centre is finished...as most of our shops are closing for ever...the hotels are filled with migrants causing trouble, the pubs and restaurants cant open, the cafes and pubs cant trade, now you cant drive to the centre....the vultures wardens make sure the town is finished.....any sane person would encourage cars back to the town...but not sefton...they persist with empty buses trundeling around, empty trains,,,and a war against the motorist that bring their wallets....you have to think...is their anyone with a brain running the town..

Your poor cat. There should be a law against that sort of thing!
