…Mervyn King would say that, wouldn't he?
The system produces the individual politicians, judges, economists, the business environment, taxation arrangements and all the rest — with only the barest minimum of democratic legitimacy, a mere fig leaf. In his position as Governor of the Bank of England, Mervyn King was a proponent of the institutional biases that exist by design!
G B played his prominent part in 1997-2010 governments purporting to want to manage the system for the betterment of all. But, this isn't about Gordon Brown per se. It is about the fact that it all works primarily for the benefit of a select portion of the citizenry, foreigners and commercial institutions to the detriment of a majority.
None of those NEW LABOUR era ministers and supporters had given thought to challenging the prerogatives that accrue to global corporate entities, or to the top percentile or so, of the population who service them. Their priority has been and is to put themselves into government;
…but, to what end?

Brown was a good chancellor full stop.
The financial crash was the Banks fault
It is simply naive to think we could have left the Banks to collapse.
Starmer is forever tarred with supporting Corbyn.

61 Tory MPs criticising the 'move on' attitude of the PM, with 44 calling on him to sack Cummings.
Two government whips.
Even Penny Mordaunt weighing in with “fully understand how angry people are” and believed there was no doubt he “took risks”.
Sajid Javid: “I do not believe Mr Cummings’ journey to County Durham to isolate on his family’s estate was necessary or justified. I remain unconvinced his visit to Barnard Castle could be considered reasonable.
“I was also deeply concerned by his decision to return to Downing Street directly after coming into contact with a family member who was ill, potentially with coronavirus.”
Maria Caulfield, an assistant government whip and nurse who returned to care for Covid-19 patients, told one of her constituents that Cummings had done “untold damage to the spirit of the law”.
Quite a difference between one-nation Tories serving their constituents, and rabid cult members who refuse to utter a word against their God Johnson.
