This story is getting leggy now - he's not resigning, Bo Jo ain't sacking him - move on!

The news is becoming quite pathetic now - slavering journalists asking the same questions - again and again.
Politicians giving the same answers - again and again.

Has no one twigged that, the more the journalists bang on asking 'isn't it one rule for them and another rule for us minister' - the more people will be drawn to saying 'sod it'.

Dominic Cummings doesn't (or shouldn't) have any choices. Sorry, H, but the guidelines were crystal clear, with zero exceptions. I feel tremendous compassion for all of the parents who may have contracted the disease and had to isolate themselves along with their children. I was horrified when I first read the guidelines, but on reflection I could understand why it was considered necessary. I still find it distressing though.
    I don't care whether he stay's or go's.
It is awful listening to all the horrible abuse.

This is how I see it-
    The PM won't sack him.
    Cummings won't resign.

Queue the most awful abuse true and untrue to force him out.

I remain a spectator wanting no part in adding to it whatever my feelings on whether he should stay or go.

No different to Communism or Socialism apart from the fact it plays out in real time instead of a nasty surprise after they have left.
Just for a change this isn’t political as such, this is about the actions of a high ranking individual working within government.

True this happens to be a Tory government, tough, no way can you blame Labour for Cummings actions, he did what he did without a thought for advice, instruction, rules or indeed anyone or anything else.

I know this, if this had been Corbyn or anyone close, you would have a lynch mob out, excuse and defend all you wish, Cummings is at fault, end of.

I said this would be the result very early, but do you believe that we should all just accept this and be good little nodding dogs, put it this way if an election was imminent Cummings feet wouldn’t have touched the floor, but there is quite a while before the electorate get a voice, with that in mind OUR government don’t give a monkeys what the public think at the moment.

At the start of lockdown it stressed that you had to isolate in your own home, your normal address you could not go to another address even if you owned it, people were turned back from Wales and the Lake District the Official reasoning being that services such as the NHS were sized for the normal population and would not be able to cope and by travelling there was always a possibility of infecting people if you were to be involved in a accident or had the misfortune to breakdown.

You're quite correct but there is sod all to be done about the man at the moment. Nothing will be gained by the media going into full 'dog with a bone' mode.
The law of unintended consequences will kick in and the dumbest amongst us will be further encouraged to break ranks on the restrictions.

In my view nothing can be gained by putting the same questions parrot fashion.
What do Morgan, Munchetty, Maitlis, Marr et al expect will happen - I think the various Ministers have been schooled in RTI techniques by Ant Middleton
It all comes across a bit na na na school playground now.

The man does not care what others think about him and, apart from a limited number of Conservatives committing short term political suicide, there doesn't appear to be a source of meaningful pressure.

Bojo has to now hope that Cummings sticks it out, if anything else came out and e went it would drag Bojo down as well because he has nailed his colours firmly to Cummings mast.

Even more reason to follow the guidelines. We have the same problem where we live. City dwellers with 2nd homes here, and we don't have the health services to support them if they get ill, or, God forbid, if we suddenly get inundated with community spread infection.

It wouldn't have been a story if his father/family lived nearby.

Wouldn't you drive your child to the best place for him, I would.

Why?? Follow Cummings example of “ apology” that will be fine, or are you going to say he didn’t drive 250 miles or take a little joyride to check his eyesight?

It wouldn’t have been a story if he had gone the right way about it, plus the denials until it couldn’t be denied any longer, you interpret it any way you wish, but the whole thing just illustrates the contempt for the general public.

I've heard no abuse. I've heard nothing about his child, absolutely no abuse there.

I've heard a lot of anger. A lot. This isn't going away any time soon. Another outing for the PM today, another miserable car crash. Another display of a bumbling idiot who cannot answer a straight question, another shitstorm of lies and evasion. Oh, and throw in a fistful of sexism too.

Much as I loathe Johnson, this is not following party lines. Sure, I'm enjoying watching him squirm. I'm also full of admiration for the increasing number of Tory voters and Tory MPs who are as outraged about this as anyone. If anything, my admiration doubles for those who aren't playing the 'it's my team and I won't hear a word said against them' game. It takes a lot to break ranks like that. But yes, they are Tories, maybe Brexiteers for all I know, and I wholeheartedly applaud them. They are standing up for the public, for their constituents, not one 'adviser'.

I personally think it's a 'last straw' situation. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows this pandemic has been handled badly. The Cummings debacle has just tipped everyone over the edge. I agree with one thing 'gazaprop' wrote, people are saying 'sod it' and breaking the lock down regulations.

When you boil all this down it’s quite simple. Because of Johnson’s actions in March there are people now dead who would otherwise be alive, and because of his actions of the past few days, there are people now alive who will shortly be dead. That should make everyone angry.
