OK, putting the initial journey from London to Durham to one side, how do you explain / defend his journey from Durham to Barnard Castle and back approx 60 miles.

Bearing in mind the following:-

He was potentially unfit to drive due to impaired vision.

He was potentially a danger to himself, other road users and pedestrians

Why if he was unsure / concerned of his ability to drive safely did he take his wife and 4 year old child with him, potentially endangering them.

Why did he choose to drive to a beauty spot and spend time there, I know that part of the country pretty well and there are plenty of lovely country drives.

Was it a coincidence that it just happened to be his wife’s birthday and they spent time by the river.

At that time you were not allowed to travel any distance even to exercise, let alone a 60 mile round trip, not for exercise but to sit at a beauty spot.

He blatantly ignored safety advice about driving if you felt that your vision was impaired.

The instructions which apply to the rest of the population are Stay At Home, if a problem then arises there are other avenues to get help which don't involve a 5 hour drive.

Pray tell us what the alternatives i have missed are because one is putting your child in care which I freely admit I wouldn't.

Big big difference in approach by the politicos though - First and Deputy First Ministers, from either side of the divide, roundly condemned them.

It's not just in Ireland there have been quite a few this side of the Irish Sea as well, the Police say they can't do anything about it without causing a scene at a funeral, they would probably lose as well.

It is outrageous that Funerals have the stiffest restrictions especially when you are allowed out for as long as you want as often as you want and wherever you want, it makes you think that the authorities don't want funerals publicised so people are unaware of the real death toll.

That's very convenient. It's a new tactic after very few are interested in 'moving on'.

"I'm going anyway" has the tone of a petulant child.

Almost as believable as testing your eyes by driving. The 'master manipulator' seems to have lost his edge. He's going to have to come up with a better slogan than 'I'm going anyway'.
