The Dominic Cummings Affair in one sentence.
Who can sum up the Cummings affair in a single sentence?
I'll begin by quoting from GQ magazine.
'The central message from the Dominic Cummings affair is that the Conservative leadership are taking their own people for fools.'
Over to you, Southport QLocal.

I'd have a go, but for that I worry this thread is at risk of becoming a grammatical hotspot!
Actually, I will tender a one word description: hubris.

The affair is an unnecessary distraction in a time of crisis, sack him and move on.

I agree.
But what you've written should really be two sentences,Gaz.
Before the Gestapo wake up, add a coordinating conjunction ('so' would work) after the comma; or perhaps change the comma to a semi-colon.
Then it will be a single sentence.

They HAVE taken people for fools, but thats' not new. This is just a stark example.
They have taken people for fools by not being able to resolve Brexit in their own party, but blaming Parliament.
They shut down Parliament using lies made to the Queen and the public.
They created an unnecessary election, touting a Brexit agreement hardly different to the one on the table a year earlier, which they have subsequently shown they had no intention of honouring.
To evade the responsibility for that they have tried, with some success, to blame the failure of talks on the EU, which is sitting there looking at an agreement made less than nine months ago re Ireland and the level playing-field,which they now realise was not made in good faith.
Mind you, treating people as fools seems to have worked. You only need to read posts on here to know that.

If for one minute you ever thought the carnal pursuit of Cummings is based on his childcare arrangements during the lockdown then above must put you straight.
The remoaners are having a field day quickly losing sight of the original story.
The story will blow in the wind today as people vent their political frustrations.

Oops, sausage fingers made me like Local's post.
Only dyed-in-the-wool Tories would defend the oily tick.
Don't go to bed angry. Stay up and plot your revenge.
