India China Border Stand - off
Tensions between China and India over their Himalayan border have escalated, with China accused of moving thousands of troops into disputed territory and expanding a military airbase in the region.
Thousands of Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops are reported to have moved into sensitive areas along the eastern Ladakh border, setting up tents and stationing vehicles and heavy machinery in what India considers to be its territory.
In response, the Indian army has moved several battalions from an infantry division usually based in the Ladakh city of Leh to “operational alert areas” along the border, and reinforcement troops have been brought in.
(The Guardian)
This could make the Cummings Scandal pretty irrelevant.

They may be trying to take the spotlight off Hong Kong.
It always seems to be the 'usual suspects'; Russia, China and co, who go in for this expansionist behaviour.

The Cummings affair was already irrelevant to those in the real world. The likes of the BBC moving off him and on to actual news like this would be very welcome.
Good to think there are still some real journalists left at the Guardian their tabloid departments pursuit of Cummings especially to his home is frankly pathetic.

As far as I know, it's only Al Jazeera TV that's on to this. But all the other broadsheets are. I only took from the Guardian because it's still free onlinr.

Trump keeps poking China with a faecal covered stick so they are flexing their muscles on several fronts and by the looks of it are spoiling for a fight.
I never thought rice was so adept at inducing violence perhaps keeping away from the Chinky is in order.

I was wondering that too.
The pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong is really digging in and has done for years now.
And you're right, they do tend to make a big show of moving troops to certain borders. China often seems to shuffle them around at the North Korean border.
Little Londoner has got it spot on. They are flexing their military muscles.
