Trump is on the way to growing a small moustache
Washington (CNN) - 'President Donald Trump is set to announce an executive order against social media companies on Thursday, days after Twitter called two of his tweets "potentially misleading." '
If the world allows Trump to do this, it's fascism next.

Just the opposite,
In a country that has long cherished the freedom of expression, we cannot allow a limited number of online platforms to hand-pick the speech that Americans may access and convey online," the draft order says. "This practice is fundamentally un-American and anti-democratic. When large, powerful social media companies censor opinions with which they disagree,
Strangely Trump is defending the rights of Americans to access from across the political spectrum including his ill tempered rants.

In the US Holocaust Museum, there is a sign defining the 'warning signs' of fascism. Link here.
1. Powerful and continuing nationalism
2. Disdain for human rights
3. Identification of enemies as a unifying cause
4. Rampant sexism
5. Controlled mass media
6. Obsession with national security
7. Religion and government intertwined
8. Corporate power protected
9. Labor power suppressed
10. Disdain for intellectual and the arts
11. Obsession with crime and punishment
12. Rampant cronyism and corruption
Trump has got those signs ticked, then ticked again.
He's been railing against 'fake news' from the beginning.
More worrying is Johnson using the 'fake news' excuse at the Liaison Committee hearing recently. Sign 5. He's also on the way to signs 1, 2, 3, 4, 8 and 12. Not there, not by a long way. But the seeds are there.
Same as Trump. Same as Putin. Same as Bolsonaro. Same as Orban.
There is a lot of it about, nowadays.

Freedom of expression isn't being denied. Twitter, 'cos that's who we're talking about, isn't hand picking which of Trump's rants may remain on his Twitter page. His misleading Tweets are still there. All Twitter has done is append the tweet with a fact check link. The tweet that caused the furor (claiming that mail in ballots are substantially fraudulent) is totally unsubstantiated. No doubt he's preparing to shout "fraud" if he loses in November. As Bill Maher has always said, if Trump loses, he won't leave easily.

Trump is trying to control media, his diatribe of misinformation must be allowed to stand unchallenged, notice the poor lamb believes the whole thing is anti Conservative/Republican, all about me, me, me.
Twitter has NOT removed nor altered his post, merely indicated that the post does not agree with the facts, that is what they are supposed to do, or is it again one law for Trump and another for others.

Trump must know that a lot of what he posts is lies.
I guess that he's objecting to the 'fact check link' because it might just make some of his followers check things out for themselves.
This is possibly wild optimism on my part

As usual Trump an his cronies have no understanding of the Constitution. The First Amendment refers only to the government as the source of possible infringement of rights to free speech. Twitter is not the government and so can do what it likes. I wish it would do more but anything is better than nothing.

With Trump's Mount Rushmore attack on Marxists, and with the continuing idiot behaviour such as the tearing down of Columbus' statue in Baltimore, we are several steps along the road to a miltary government in the US, with Trump as Fuhrer.

There seems to be some general misunderstanding about this order so I post a link for people to read it themselves rather than the "interpretations" we are getting;

I doubt he is capable of growing either.

There certainly is - China, the majority of Middle Eastern states, the more despotic African 'republics', cartel controlled South America - the bolt hole of choice for past fascists.
Makes you think - are things so bad here, or the west in general. Maybe instead of constantly extolling people to contemplate their country's past, those energies would be best employed in challenging the real bad guys.

There was a chap on Twitter that had an account to simply copy and paste Trump's tweets. Word for word. He didn't post anything else at all.
He's tried this several times. He gets banned every time, for 'offensive' content. Trump doesn't.
Obviously Trump draws clicks, but talk about one rule for one...
