I assume that you're talking about gun control laws? The President doesn't have the power to write laws, Congress is the law maker. If Congress passes the law, it's then sent to the Senate. The Senate has the final vote before it's passed to the President for signature into law.
The problem occurs when one party has the majority in Congress, and another party has the Senate. Bills often sit in the Senate for months before they're tabled, sometimes they aren't tabled at all. Under Obama, when the Dems held Congress it was impossible to get the Republicans held Senate to pass gun control bills. Then Congress was taken by the Republicans. Holding both houses meant that bills were not written, never mind passed. Under Trump, once the Dems gained control of Congress, they wrote gun control bills and sent them to the Senate. None have been passed. It's obstructionism at its very best. I don't think any gun control laws have been passed since Clintons's time in the White House.
States can write their own gun control laws, and many do.

I meant prejudice against Black Americans.
It needs a President to lead by example a societal change in the deep rooted prejudice.

A twist in the tale:
George Floyd and Derek Chauvin once worked overlapping security shifts at the same nightclub

Yea I watched that report yesterday on CNN, the club owner was interviewed and was surprised the cop didn’t recognise Floyd.
Floyd was well liked and was often called in to cover shifts and help out.

Looks like America was burning last night.
Awful situation.
It won't matter to Floyd's loved ones, but I bet the policeman gets a lovely reception in prison. A feather in the cap of anyone that gets to him. Doubt he'll be allowed in the general prison population, though. Shame that.

It is not all is as it seems, Floyd worked the door at a club the owner of which has said that it is surprising the Police Officer didn't recognise him as he also occasionally works there.

There seems to be a rather unfortunate gap in the video shown on TV.
At the end the man was seen and heard quietly saying "I can't breathe" unfortunately it was probably positional asphyxia that killed him.
Its a point of contention in the US Courts so its not clear what will happen.
Apparently it's very common now for some people to say I can't breathe when restrained.
If you don't know any better you might believe someone was lying to you if they could still speak reasonably.
The autopsy will either be inconclusive or might even point to an underlying issue.
That will create more problems.
The rioters and thieves help only themselves, the mob who seem to think stealing from businesses and burning things is somehow legitimate after this man's death need to be dealt with harshly they sully his name.
Shots showing a number of officers restraining him by the car would appear to indicate some sort of struggle took place in the road, hopefully more video will surface.

Who is the worse looter here?
"A 2015 estimate indicated that the slave trade that was the bedrock of US capitalism in the pre-Civil War era amounted to the looting of its victims of $14 trillion. Moralising condemnation of looters in Minneapolis and other cities today should perhaps be put in the context of this giant crime against humanity."

We as a Nation are as guilty as anyone, the Golden Triangle made a lot of British seafarers a fortune. Goods and commodities to Africa sold and bartered for slaves who were taken to the Americas where they were sold then commodities coffee cotton etc were bought to be taken to Britain and Sold.

Re gun control
The (Dem) governor of Virginia recently introduced some limitations for gun owners, which had been in his manifesto when elected.
They were:
- Checks on the mental health of gun purchasers
Limitation on buying MORE THAN ONE GUN A DAY
Sanctions against people who store guns where children can reach them
In response to these appalling attacks on personal liberty , armed protesters in military garb marched on the governor's mansion. Trump tweeted his support for them.

I would rather they up the training for police in racism and first aid.

I think the Americans have had more than enough training in racism, I find it difficult to understand how even the BAME Officers can be so racist, It is the most racist Country on earth.

Insane, isn't it?
Oddly enough, I don't recall the police kneeling on their necks, driving cars at them, shooting rubber bullets at them or beating the crap out of them.
The news coming out of America in the past few days has been sickening. 'Racism' doesn't begin to cover it. All encouraged by the Klan Grand Wizard at the White House.
There have been some positives, though. There has been solidarity with the protesters, even from the Amish community. And not all police officers have been on Trump's side.
I just hope this anger translates into votes at the election. If people are allowed to vote, that is.

A culture segregating living areas is bad.
Whole neighbourhoods have problems with low employment poverty crime and substance abuse.
I suspect Black officers look down on the above equally.
Do the black victims see black police as the 'enemy'?
