Cummings is being used as a convenient excuse for those who do as they please, he is not responsible for those who ignore lockdown, what he is responsible for are his own actions and then when the first reports came out, denying and denying until it became impossible to deny, then perversely it all suddenly becomes the fault of the media.

If he had held his hands up from the start, apologised and explained he may have had a more sympathetic hearing, as it is he displayed contempt and arrogance to the rest of the country, which has probably created more harsh feelings than the actual transgression.

Whilst I can agree with you that cuts were made in the wrong place - do you really suggest there would have been a team within the NHS, sitting around drinking tea, waiting for this virus to appear?
We have shown that we can react quickly, when needed, and put in place systems or resources at next to no notice - the Nightingale hospitals demonstrate this.
World wide procurement problems exist but a never ending procession of medics are queuing up to bleat and berate on this. As I said - I'm with you on Cummins' behaviour but, and I don't know if I've got the wrong end of the stick here about which paper published it, one of the 'witnesses' has admitted to making his story up.
Also, on gilding the lily - I was referring to the 'spoken to by Police' report which has been shown to a bit of truth stretching.
I think you may have missed my point a little. If someone has erred and, a robust attack is to be mounted, the the Caesar's Wife principles need to be adopted.

Perhaps you should learn to differentiate between the government bodies who are responsible for administration of the NHS, and those who work in health care services.
