I have not bought any clothes during lock down however I agree with purchasing shoes like Alfred Sargent although I do not have any of that brand. I have a collection of "Oliver Sweeney" shoes which come in Goodyear Welted and Blake Stitched ! Also Loake, Barker, Cheaney etc etc

I've just had a look at the Oliver Sweeney site. There are some nice shoes and they appear to be Italian using Blake construction, where the sole is directly stitched to the upper, whereas, in the Goodyear method, the two are connected via a welt.
All the British firms you mention produce good- looking and excellent value- for- money high quality shoes.
The secret, when buying shoes, is to identify a last shape that most closely matches the shape of one's foot and then your whole life experience improves! The alternative is a custom-made-to-measure shoe, but these cost £ thousands rather than £ hundreds.

The Oliver Sweeney Shoes I have were made prior to them going bust some years ago. The shoes they produce today are good but nowhere near the quality they achieved before. Unfortunately it is a commercial decision as all businesses have to trade profitably.

Here's a good Loake shoe for wet weather.
Loake Birkdale is a long-wing brogue on a
on a Goodyear-welted sole.
Birkdale rubber-soled Derby shoes £285.00

I bought some padded cycle shorts online.
Odd looking things.
If they work better than a padded seat cover it will be a plus.

Me too - 'you don't need one sir' they said, and 'can you stop visiting this lingerie section on daily basis or we'll call the Police'!

On the line (inside out) after yesterday's jaunt to The Last Drop Village.
We had to conserve the bike battery on the return journey
Steep hills suck it up.
I was glad of the padding downhill over crumbly country roads.

Those shorts make Nora Batty's knickers look positively alluring!
I'd love to see the rear view of your padded/enlarged backside bumping along those crumbly roads! Does Mr H ride in front?
P.S. I like the mirror against the stone wall.
