Letter from Office National Statistics
Have received a letter from NS asking the household to tale part in
COVID-19 INFECTION SURVEY 12 pages long asking you and anyone else in the household to take part in a survey and have a throat and nose swab.
You make an appointment and they come to the house and do it.
Has anyone else received one?

I haven't heard of this, but I thought the latest version of the rules says that you can't visit other people's houses.

A neighbour had and is taking part, this is part of the random testing programme which attempts to check just how and where the virus is spreading.
Evidently this is a programme of testing, initially weekly, then monthly for
I believe up to 12 months, please check as there is also some scam going on appearing to be part of this programme, the testers DO NOT COME INTO YOUR HOME, anyone using this programme to gain access is probably criminal in some way.

I agree with SF. Why would they need to come into your home? Or even to your home. Swabs can be sent through the post.
Could be that there is a legitimate scheme running, but we all know how scammers work, just like the text messages saying 'we know someone you've been in contact with is infected, so pay blah blah'. They spot a bandwagon and they're on it like flies round muck.
While I know we all want to help in whatever way we can, I think I'd give this one a swerve. Stay safe.

It is Legit, the initial contact is a half hour phone interview and you get paid in vouchers for taking part in the interview & periodic tests.

That does sound legit. It's the coming into your house, even without a pandemic, that worries me.

If it is the real programme, no problem, if it helps in any way I would do it, plus if gives you a clean bill as far as C-19 is concerned, didn’t know there was any sort of payment for this?????

The way it’s supposed to operate, someone comes to your home and shows how to do the test, then I believe test kits are delivered and collected, the testers DON’T come into your home at any time.

If I remember rightly I think you get £50 for the first interview and test and then £20 a time if you carry on, all paid in vouchers. Seems like a winner all round depending on what the vouchers are for.

It says you can agree to:
A the first visit only
B the first, visit every week for 1 month 5 visits in total
C the first, a visit every week for a month, and then 11 monthly visits 16 visits in total over 1 year.
First visit gets £50 voucher. For every further visit that they complete, they will be compensated with £25 voucher.

Even if it isn't a scam it won't be long before it becomes one.

Tightwads! I would want a hell of a lot more than that - and in cash not vouchers - if they wanted to persuade me any. At least a grand before I would even consider it.
