That’s not an error, it’s standard for pavement riding cyclists.

That one makes a habit of it - the shock horror bit may be at his own expense unless he learns. Had I have been travelling faster the other day near Ormskirk, where a lad suddenly shot out from parked vehicles right in front of my car, I would have had to swerve in an area where there were islands on one side and a brick wall on the other. I would have had damage to my car and a massive insurance bill to pay. These cyclists are members of the gangs who have been getting off with riding in the middle of the road doing wheelies. They think they can do the same when on their own.

Pavement cyclists and stupidity
I am sick to death of pavement cyclists.

There are now more cyclists on the pavement since the cycle lanes have been put in, because they cannot read the road markings.

Interesting that the cycling imbecile and his new love interest haven’t bothered to make a comment about this lad’s dangerous riding. I’m sure that if a cyclist wearing a head cam had posted footage of a car driver doing something similar, they’d have been all over it like a rash.

In the cyclists can do no wrong manual, the driver should have been aware of the pavement cyclist and anticipated the cyclist continuing across the junction, as is their right of course.

It must be the Police manual because they never prosecute therefore they do no wrong.

That could have been the cyclists last day and any experienced motorist will have seen the same.
At least you could see him on the pavement and allow for it before the junction.

I agree with local.
The cyclist was clearly at fault, but the motorist has to anticipate silly and poor behavior if possible. The courts and legal civil law accept that pedestrians and cyclists are vulnerable to cars and therefore put a higher burden on the motor driver to avoid accidents were possible without imposing upon them a "counsel of perfection" on the driver. Ability to spot danger and a drivers reaction time are all considered.
