People in Birkdale are being asked to help highlight broken and uneven pavements in the area.
Birkdale Conservative council candidate Lee Durkin is urging people to spot what needs fixing so he can put further pressure on Sefton Council for vital repair work to be done.
Lee, who has lived and worked in the Birkdale area for many years, said: “I am very concerned about the condition of several pavements in the Birkdale area and I am asking local people to help me on this.
“We are now in Autumn; leaves are settling on the ground and the weather forecast for the rest of this month alone is for some very wet weather.
“The uneven paths alongside several of the roads in Birkdale are serious trip hazards. Guildford Road and parts of Liverpool Road are two particular examples which are causes for concern.
“I have reported some locations already to Sefton Council, but I am now asking people to go online and report what they have seen to the local authority as well. We all need to bring these broken pavements to the attention of council officers.
“Even a little trip could prove disastrous for the young and for elderly and vulnerable people living in our community during these Autumn and Winter seasons. Now is the time to take action.
“I want to play my part to help the community of Birkdale become a better place.”
Southport Conservative MP Damien Moore said: “There are a number of pavements in the Birkdale area which clearly need some attention.
“I would like to thank Lee Durkin for bringing these damaged areas to the attention of Sefton Council’s highways team and hope they will now be repaired in a prompt and timely manner.”

Damaged pavements certainly need attention, but leaves? it’s autumn, trees shed their leaves in autumn, sure need cleaning, but anyone who thinks council cleaners can keep all pavements clear at this time of year is not real.
So many complaints about things that are quite easy to remedy.
If Joe Public, who is now sat around doing nothing was to get out of the armchair and brush outside his house, and maybe the old lady and gentlemans house over the road, or next door, things might not be so bad.
