I was watching a news item the other day featuring the top man at the Royal British legion and he was talking about different coloured poppies saying they are ok for any other day but NOT Remembrance Sunday .
And it seems to me that the BBC win the wear the poppy correctly prize as they seem to know to point the green leaf to 11 o’clock, most politicians, news readers and folk have the leaf pointing all over the place .

Never heard of blue poppies.
Purple poppies are for remembrance of animals killed in service and for animals currently serving our needs. Eight million horses donkeys and mules died in WW1. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purple_poppy

I wear a red one, but I've seen all different colours.
I think as long as we are remembering those who served, in whichever capacity, they are all good.
It's acknowledging our debt that's important. Nice to remember the animals too.

I agree it’s the remembering that counts and I remember the chap from the RBL saying they only get the funds they count on raised from the red ones.

The proceeds from the sales of this years purple poppies went to K9 Heroes, a U.K. charity that provides support for retired British service dogs including military, police, search and rescue, border force and mountain rescue. They are a registered charity and equally deserving as RBL.

Ah,but do you know what the Black Poppy Rose represents?
Orwell said "If there is hope, it lies in the proles." Whilst champagne socialists see diversity idealised at university, the common folk experience it first hand in their neighbour hoods.

No I agree with everyone and also with the top chap of the RBL, he was the one saying that these other coloured poppies that raise funds for who knows who else on the back of the traditional RBL red poppy symbol on Remembrance Day and diverting funds that HE thought should go to the RBL and that’s why HE was saying that these other coloured poppies for other reasons are ok on any other day, any other day .

Well to be honest, I’d much rather support other worthwhile causes. Ever since they accepted funding from the British Nationalist Party I ceased buying red poppies in favour of purple ones.
