The Ontario Government announced yesterday that we have to stay home and only celebrate Christmas with people who live in the same house. Those who live alone can join another household.
So it's Christmas for 2 in our house, which is what we were planning on doing anyway. Like some others, I can wait and really celebrate when we all have the vaccine.

I havent seen anything about Christmas shopping trips, e.g. to Liverpool, which is within our tier. Is that non-essential travel?
Don't worry! This virus will not dare go against Government orders - it will not be active until the Government says it will be. You will be quite safe util 23rd -27th Dec.

What is with care homes not being allowed Christmas Decorations?? How on earth does this affect a non living microbe? Have they been scouring the asylums to find these eminent people?
This virus affects a tiny 0.03% of the whole population - this means that 99.97% are NOT affected! The death rate in the UK has been the same average death rate for every single year - there have been no additional deaths this year! This virus has been COMPUTER SIMULATED. These are the facts! They have not been drawn out of a hat, they are not out of thin air, these are the facts! Sadly, people who are at the end of their natural life span, or who have been severely weakened by other illnesses - will have their condition accelerated by catching a common cold. You know this, it is common knowledge to everyone. Unless - of course - you have caught the virus and one of its side effects causes brain cells to shut down.

It gets to a point when there is no point in continuing any sort of response, banging your head against a brick wall hurts!
Time and time again since March (s)he has denied COVID is real, it's a worldwide conspiracy theory! If you do catch it (odd that as it doesn't exist) it's nothing more than a mild case of flu, claims that "there have been no additional deaths this year!" well 57,000 in the UK and still rising, 1.4 million worldwide proves otherwise.
We have countered all claims made with facts from legitimate sources, facts published by our countries (and others) scientists, provided links to back up our posts, something rarely done by him/her and when they do they scour the internet for some outdated sites sometimes 20+ years out of date to try to back up their half brained theories.
Like a midge, if you ignore it long enough hopefully it might go away.

I don't think that anyone could claim that covid doesn't exist. Neither could it be said that it forms any part of a conspiracy theory. However, what can be questioned is how our government - and other governments throughout the world - have responded to a virus that, quite honestly, is no worse than many other virus that have gone before.
Yes, many people have died but certainly not as many as have died from a whole range of other causes over the same period of time.
I think governments responses have been made through fear of going against the advice of scientists when by doing so would leave them wide open to future accusations.
That would be acceptable if the scientists advice could be based on the wider picture - other than solely on the number of "covid cases". There is a danger in believing everything an "adviser" tells you - even if that adviser is a scientist. Scientists often get things wrong - and often disagree with each other - even when it comes to covid. Remember it was scientists who decreed that diesel cars would be the transport of the future? They don't like to talk about that anymore.

Yep! Apologies, typed too fast, should have read 99.97%. A model used in modern technology does not mean a super thin person walking down a catwalk.

My Brother should play the lottery, As he's in the God knows what percent that have caught it twice.

compare 2020 and 2019, especially April.
Then come back here and say deaths haven't gone up.
In fact I'll save you the effort.

There is another consideration here. Not just about Christmas, or this government, or governments around the world.
That is, this is just the first pandemic in what, 100 years? It won't be the last, and it won't take 100 years until the next one. It was inevitable. We just didn't know when. Some scientists consider this will happen again. Soon. And regularly.
The fact is this is very likely an animal virus that has jumped species. And everywhere, right across the globe, we are encroaching on land that should be left alone. We are ripping apart natural habitats for human consumption, one way or another. So these viruses will make the leap to us more and more.
Add that to 'wet markets', and the scarcity of food in some areas, and we've another disaster waiting to happen. And another. Worst case a pandemic or massive outbreak could happen every four years.
This and future governments need to take this as a massive Exercise Cygnus part 2, and prepare accordingly. If lessons aren't learned from this, the next one, maybe just around the corner, will make this pandemic look like a walk in the park.

Impossible to read the data you have provided - however, on examination of the ONS figures, you will see that the TOTAL average over five years does not change - and this is replicated globally. There was as you state a spike in the figures in April, but there were also four months of this year where the total number of deaths from all causes that have been far lower than previous years. These figures also compare well to 2018, in which there was claimed an epidemic. The UK population has increased by 2.5 the number of Paris's population (6.3 million people) in the past ten years, the percentage death rate per people in the country has therefore increased pro rata.

I am sorry to hear about your brother - he may unfortunately have a lower degree of immunity for some reason, but I am not wrong. For any pandemic in history - the numbers affected are extremely low.
The World is in a recession at present. Recessions mean that lower spending is desirable. Normally this is addressed with higher costs and taxes but since we have had this imposed several times since the financial crash - it would have been very unpopular among the public. But lockdowns are accepted. Notice which outlets are closed totally - unnecessary spending outlets. Notice also, how difficult it is to get to see a doctor, or to get to the hospital - for those who would want to, therefore there are less medications being prescribed - which would cost the government, and those liable for costs, a heck of a lot of money. Traffic down, less paid in fuel? Etc.,
I am not an expert and I do not claim to be - other Q Local posters appear to know more than I do, it is what YOU want to believe personally that matters.
