I am sorry to hear about your brother - he may unfortunately have a lower degree of immunity for some reason, but I am not wrong. For any pandemic in history - the numbers affected are extremely low.
The World is in a recession at present. Recessions mean that lower spending is desirable. Normally this is addressed with higher costs and taxes but since we have had this imposed several times since the financial crash - it would have been very unpopular among the public. But lockdowns are accepted. Notice which outlets are closed totally - unnecessary spending outlets. Notice also, how difficult it is to get to see a doctor, or to get to the hospital - for those who would want to, therefore there are less medications being prescribed - which would cost the government, and those liable for costs, a heck of a lot of money. Traffic down, less paid in fuel? Etc.,

On top of the 44,000 difference will need to be added a extra number due to the reduction in activities such as less road deaths etc.

Primary risk factors being old and pre-existing conditions such as the same old problem of obesity.
I wonder how many people have used the lockdown as an opportunity to get themselves in order.

You certainly don't need a gym to keep in order.
Far safer outside.

A friend of mine joined a gym and asked if I wanted to go along. I am a keen walker and will go out for a walk most days, I asked him what he does and he said 20 minutes on a bike, 20 minutes jogging & 20 minutes walking. To sell it to he said whilst on the machines you can play a video, if you want you can choose scenes out in the countryside, my response was so you want me to stop going out in the countryside for a walk and join you in a gym and watch a video of the countryside whilst walking?

Not a low immunity, A high risk job. He's a bus driver. Unfortunately comes a lot of arseholes everyday. People that think the rules don't apply to them.

I do despair at the number of gym users who seem unable to keep fit unless it's at a gym.

Him Indoors and I have decided it's Christmas for 3 this year. My sister-in-law is in our bubble. Has been from the start. She lives opposite and sees nobody apart from us.
I could, under the 5 day rule, include my Dad and sister. I just don't think it's worth it. Of course I'd love to see them, but I'm guessing by the 25th there will be quite a leap in infections, and I just cannot risk passing anything onto him.
There will be time, hopefully early next year, for a family gathering with all the hugs we can give. Looking forward to that.

Those are totals for one month - if you average the numbers PER YEAR you can see that they do level out for every year. What figures are you using? There are a number of 'official figures' and they all read differently.

Is that a higher risk than shop assistants or medical workers? Surely everyone was wearing masks? Are bus drivers not behind an additional screen? Your brother is an extremely rare person, for it is said that one cannot catch C19 twice, once you have had it, you become immune.
FACTCHECK: "The evidence so far shows that catching the disease twice is very rare, and that most infected people recover and develop immunity against it"
