Your comments are simply irrational but I don't doubt you will have people on here agreeing with you, I can only look forward to the day when we move on from your obsession with Trump it's frankly weird.
How can you not be shocked by it? The sight of a large mass of thugs chanting heave ho as they surge forward pressing all of their weight against stolen riot shields, crushing a police officer against a steel door. Not just once, many times over. The police officer is bleeding and obviously in considerable pain. And all of this taking place in the seat of government in a Western democracy, where the chamber is in session certifying the results of the general election.
I'll ask you once again: Would you take the same cavalier attitude if this had occurred in the HoP when the House of Commons was in session? I guarantee that you would be outraged, and probably the most vociferous member on this forum.
You find my comments irrational. The majority of Americans, both red and blue, share my outrage at what happened that day. To you America is a distant country, one that you've probably visited, but know very little about. To me it's a very close neighbour, one that I know well and care about. What happens there matters to Canada, and it matters to me.
The one thing I haven't done is slavishly support Trump, have regularly criticised him and rarely praised him.
I have though tried to give some balance which the Trump crazies seem incapable of and see as unfettered support.
Who one wonders who you will you turn on next.
I suppose it's back to Boris.
Much of your so called 'balance' would have been null and void if you had taken the time to fact check.
When, one wonders, will you stop worshipping at the Altar of Mammon?

Particularly so, had it happened during the Commons big Brexit vote and been carried out by an anarchistic mob of 'stop Brexit' chanting remain supporters.......

If that had happened with Remain supporters, Local would have been screaming for the SAS, Marines, RAF and sending gun boats up the Thames.

Plenty more unshocking footage here.

Come come, during the anti-democracy protests by the second vote mob blocking our capital and inciting sedition I didn't even ask for a lowly bobby and his truncheon.
Thankfully the real pro-Brexit majority in this country were far better behaved than the odd American demonstrator and more considerate than the Remain trouble makers in this country.

Easily, because I am not obsessed with Trump.
I have been to America many times and have quite a few friends there.
With some for and many against Trump but the most educated simply say we knew enough about Trump before he was elected, the problem is once the mostly faux outrage has gone and Trump does whatever he does next his vote needs to go somewhere.
You only saw a mob because you have lost your objectivity.
I saw a man trapped by both sides, his own should have removed him as he panicked he clearly couldn't go the other way as there were too many people trying to get through.
It reminded me of a Tube train station crush.
There's nothing good about it but taking the whole day into consideration I saw the vast majority of the demonstrators more intent on filming than damage.
Seeing a man with his feet up on a desk or sat in a chair isn't the end of the world.
Arresting a man in some fur and makeup does not a problem solve.
Watching hundreds of people pouring through respecting the rope barriers isn't the end of civilisation.
Being calm detached and objective is more indicative of a healthy state of mind.
I simply don't understand why you used the term "Worshipping at the Altar of Mammon" in this context.*
Did you mean something else?

The real trouble is in both cases of Brexit and Trumpism it needed some one claiming to be anti-establishment and man of the people, appealing to the baser instincts, finding someone to blame for the problems of ordinary people, the reality in both cases, both arch capitalists with no concern whatsoever for the common man.
Sadly this country didn’t wake up quickly enough, the USA has woken up, the damage and division is enormous, but they have a chance to rectify the problems, we haven’t.

Even the most hackneyed view of America doesn't give you that many gullible voters.
Trump certainly got the vote out from a lot of the average Joes because he did a lot of what he said he would when he was elected the first time.
Trump wouldn't get my vote.
You only see "the damage" here because you didn't get what you wanted but the reality is the electorate was given the option to overturn Brexit at a general election and they didn't.
Don't panic though with super Starmer at the helm we will get the super deal offered he said he would get and you can vote to go back in.

While another Republican says:
Rep. Emanuel Cleaver: "We ask in the name of the monotheistic god, Brahma, and god known by many names by many different faiths. Amen and A-woman."
What a twit!

Little chance of rejoining, there is simply no way we would get the same terms we threw away, Starmer has also said he has no wish to try and renegotiate Brexit, incidentally you may have noticed already delays in supplies to NI, nothing major as yet, but also note that after all the fuss over fishing, Scottish fishermen are currently stopping export live and fresh produce to Europe due to delays in the process, Euro transactions are moving to the EU away from London and we’ve only started.
Still we are now independent
However back to Trump, he still has a following, but that following is becoming more fractured by the day, hopefully we have heard the last of him, but somehow I think he will hang around like a bad smell for a while yet.

Chant was heard …Wednesday as pro-Trump mob, incited by the president, stormed the buildingThe chant [i.e. Hang Mike Pence] was heard in the US Capitol on Wednesday, as a mob incited by the president mounted a putsch, roaming the halls, confronting law enforcement and in some cases apparently planning to kidnap lawmakers.

…detached from reality and wouldn't know "objective", if you stumbled over it!

What a twit!
What a twit you are, indeed! Cleaver is a Democrat. The Rep. stands for Representative.
You shouldn't join with the grown ups until you have done your homework.

The anti Brexit protest didn't come close to the mass invasion in Washington, there is no remote comparison, didn't notice any one carrying plastic handcuffs, guns, molotov cocktails and IEDs, incidentally the Brexit group had nothing to complain about, they were getting their way, but still all the violent rhetoric and indeed violence came from Brexiteers. but of course you felt that everyone was supposed to go down on their knees in worship of Johnson, that didn't and isn't going to happen.

Grown - ups see things for what they are, not what they are led to believe.
Still, mine is not as bad an error as he made! I don't care who or what they are in the States - I am not particularly interested either. Heaven knows why they keep on about them in our media, there is very little respect in the UK for the USA as it is.

Considering recent events, it's no wonder our media has had the US in the spotlight. No doubt media around the world, will have had those same outrageous events in sharp focus.
But under normal circumstances, I'd agree, it frequently feels like there's excessive weight given to what happens across the pond. Sometimes, it's almost as if we're the fifty-something State of the Union.....Whereas, newsworthy events (Brexit aside) in neighbouring countries/our closest trading partners, frequently go under-reported.
