So many of us have our health in our hands by the time we get to the NHS it's far too late for many the damage is done.
Gallstones and drinking too much alcohol are the two most common causes and together account for around eight of 10 attacks of acute pancreatitis.
Good luck with keeping healthy and avoiding the horrible disorder.
Thanks and you're right. There are some exceptions though in that I have no gall bladder so, no gallstones, and rarely drank alcohol. My major problem was a seriously unbalanced diet including a very sweet tooth. So far, drastic changes in these areas seem to be doing the trick. Long may it continue.

You jest, of course? If not I hope you've got a cast iron constitution because you're going to need it, sooner or later.

Unfortunately the NHS is burdened with a lot of people who believed they would be fine on a similar diet.

Yes, it's a pity that private health cover is not as affordable in the UK, as it is here. Hobart is a small city of around 300k population, but still has a large public and 2 large private hospitals. On those occasions, over the past 40 odd years that any of my family have needed hospital treatment, it has been carried out, in the hospital of our choosing by the doctor of our choosing and at a time of our choosing.

Unfortunately, our NHS is a mix of superb and dire.
Some of the finest most intelligent hardworking people our society has hamstrung by a minority who want Bevan in the wrong century.

My diet consists of nuts and crackers. Maybe we are what we eat. But, Im now 61 and when I was a kid nut allergy was allmost unheard of. So, what is going on ? Is it environmental, is something being put in the nuts ?

I had long thought that, I had never heard until modern times about nut allergies. Surely nuts are just natural food - how can anything be added?
