No. My wife is a Senior Carer at one of the biggest care home groups in the area, and they've heard nothing at all.

With respect, I don't think you know how the care industry works!
But this is down to the NHS - the Pfizer vaccine isn't suitable because the vaccinations have to be done at the home itself, so it'll be the Oxford one.
They haven't had a single case of the virus in staff or residents right through this whole period, mainly because they were way ahead of the government and 'experts' in their infection control. They had banned visits long before the 'experts' told them to.

Not defending anyone here, but reality is that vaccine most suited for care home situations is definitely the Oxford vaccine, simply put everyone can’t be injected simultaneously, one of the main problems is obviously people available to actually carry out the injections.
There are a lot of people waiting for the injections, some will feel their priority is not high enough, but for all of us we will have to wait our turn.

It doesn't seem to be widely known that Nursing Homes are required by law to have infection control.
The good work of the staff should be highlighted where they have stuck to an effective regime.
Well before Covid reared its head staff have been dealing with all sorts of potentially fatal viruses and infections.
The staff are seriously under valued.
Sending people to a Nursing Home was not reckless it was or should have been safer than staying in a hospital where there is a high risk of infection.

Sending untested people to Care Homes might have been safer for that patient but it certainly was safer for the other residents and staff It was not just reckless it was bordering on criminal, whoever made the decision to make that policy has the blood of the residents who died on their hands.

I can't help but think what an utter moron the Burnley FC manager is stating that footballers should have priority in getting the jab. Perhaps they need to get out of the cocooned little world they live in and realise that they are way way down the pecking order.

If the patients were residents of the nursing home before they went to hospital/tested positive why can they not go to their 'home' which would still be paid for their care whilst in hospital.
Care and nursing homes can refuse to accept a new patient if privately run.

It's probably pointless pointing that out.
At the time they went home the Hospital Doctors thought that was the safest place for them and testing wasn't as well developed.
But why spoil a good whinge.

I wouldn't even put them in a chicken run for it.

My mum had her 2nd vaccination on Wednesday, her surgery phoned before Christmas to say she needed to go in 2 days, then they gave a date of 6th Jan which was also honoured too.
She was given a card to carry for the future in casy anyone needed proof.

I doubt that the decision was anything to do with doctors, it must have been an instruction from higher up the food chain.
