    Lockdown Joggers and Cyclists.

Could any joggers and cyclists on here give a wide berth to the many elderly and vulnerable people out exercising?

Having a puffing billy go closely past is a health risk and bad manners.

I see it happen far too much and many are frightened.

    Never mind them

    Never mind the joggers etc.

I'm sick of seeing people queue up for Subway and other takeaway items.
Places like Subway, Maccies and other food outlets doing takeaway should be closed like they were in the first lockdown.
People would be much better buying a loaf, some kind of filling and making their own food and it would work out a lot cheaper.
Also you can buy a massive jar of coffee for just over a fiver and it lasts ages. As you can pay anything up to £3 for a coffee.

Go on, do it. You'll all thank me and be a lot better off in the long run.
And don't say you haven't got time to make food or drink. I won't believe a word of it.

Erm, I'd issue similar advice to motorists....

When (whilst walking along pavements) I have to pass oncoming pedestrians at 2m distance, it sometimes requires stepping into/walking in the roadway. My concern is then, being hit by 30mph+ vehicles from behind. Motorists therefore need to be extra aware of what's happening on pavements - and give 'Covid jaywalkers' safe clearance.

Likewise when cycling. I ride at the recommended 1m from kerb, to avoid grids, edge defects etc, as should everyone. Most of the time, that's enough to keep 2m from pedestrians. However, I will move further out, if passing a pedestrian who is stood at kerbedge.......Motorists must anticipate that possibility - and give Covid cyclists safe clearance.

True though it is nice to support these shops and workers staying open.

It also allows people to meet at a distance with one other person outside under the current rules and have a warming drink in this cold weather.

What needs sorting is the Supermarkets, they are only paying lip service to the guidelines, the restrictions at most stores are only about keeping the area around the entrance free, the rest of the store is usually like a rugby scrum.

Yeah, that's why I stopped going to Aldi on Liverpool Rd and the fact that the whole journey there and back used to make me feel ill after I'd got home. I needed at least an hour to get over the whole experience. Plus the choice in Aldi isn't the greatest and some of the stuff is out of date on the day you buy it.

I started shopping at Iceland again from July onwards, I only go to town once a fortnight as to minimise risk of infection.
It's a nice change of scenery too. I don't do eating out or Costa / Nero / Subway etc as there's nothing like making your own stuff.

If the elderly are out exercising - then they are the ones who would not be really bothered, don't you think?

Quite happy to que up for ages at shops though, But those 2 or 3 seconds must be terrifying.

Went out with my daughter today for her daily 5k run (I cycle). She gives every one a wide birth, Usually going onto the road. Not only for them but for herself, she's the one taking deep breaths going past people that look like they have got lost in the snow. If you are venerable you shouldn't be out, We are in a lock down.

Too right, In Hesketh Park I have been feeling quite threatened lately whilst walking. The sudden awareness of pounding feet close behind and the sudden rush of air, droplets of sweat flying and expelling of air as a jogger rushes past a couple of feet away, even worse when they are coming towards you and you get a facefull of their puffing and blowing, most unpleasant. Then there is the illegal cycling in the park. (Signs at every entrance asking cyclists to dismount).

So only anti social people can go out robbing/ murdering/ raping those of good character the VENERABLE should stay in. Surely it should be the other way round and the anti social n'er do wells should be locked in.

The number of juveniles out and about committing serious crimes at 14/15 years of age has increased lately murder at a Reading park/ theft of a car and killing the owner in Stockport perpetrated by that age group.
The venerable have earned the right to go where they please.
