The Controversy of De-population
From 1960 to the year 2000, the world population doubled from 3 billion people to 6 billion people, over the next forty years at the same rate, the population will increase to 12 billion people.
The world is struggling now for self sufficiency in foods, lower pollution etc., , while poverty is increasing steadily.
It has been argued on many fronts that if we are to avoid even greater pollution and and reduce over consumption that serious thought must be given to reducing future populations.

The grafitti referred to on the other site, relates to a speech made by Bill Gates in 2010, entitled the Ted Talks:
(TED Conferences LLC is an American media organization that posts talks online for free distribution under the slogan "ideas worth spreading". TED was conceived by Richard Saul Wurman, who co-founded it with Harry Marks in February 1984 as a conference; it has been held annually since 1990.)

"First, we've got population. The world today has 6.8 billion people. That's headed up to about nine billion. Now, if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that by, perhaps, 10 or 15 percent. But there, we see an increase of about 1.3. "
Then of course, there was the Depo-Provera Scandal.

'There are now 7.7 billion people on Earth. The UN forecasts that this figure will rise to 11 billion by 2100'
That is from the Web page you've linked so where do you get 12bn by 2060?

It it’s highly misleading and untrue to say Bill Gates is creating vaccines to make the earth’s population infertile, which is what the graffiti implies. He discussed a plan to reduce the world’s population through vaccines.

I don't understand this obsession with Bill Gates, who earned a squillion through hard work and good luck and has spent millions of his own money on projects to benefit all people. Wait... maybe that's why people hate him so much?

There is no obsession among the people - the truth is that much of what is going on does heavily involve the Gates and their Foundation. So obviously he is going to be mentioned on many fronts. Apart from the other topic mentioned, which you have not commented on - Mr Gates was also investing in the research of graphine and condoms. He is a particularly successful acquisitions speculator, advised by his business and stock market agents. He is not an innovator, but he has fronted many societal issues which may have been with good intent but which have proved otherwise.

When I was young, people used to have children only when they could afford them. Now, it seems, that isn't even a consideration.
After all, with a benefit system they can fall back on, the only consideration has to be a lifestyle choice - and often that goes out the window in a moment of passion.

You reckon? families are generally so much smaller than they used to be not so very long ago, sure there are some whose ambition seems to be a couple of children, subsidised housing and a life on benefits, do you seriously believe that they are anything close to a majority?
There are those who abuse any system, they come from all walks of life, wealth or poor is not the reason for those who feel they are "entitled".
You do appreciate that most benefit claimants are actually working people who have been thrown into low income and are in need of assistance. The vast majority want nothing more than live, work, earn and provide for themselves and their families.

Yes, but that has been denied to them. The number of unemployed is increasing rapidly.
