Susan Rosenberg is an example of far left 'terrorists' and you are of the opinion that domestic 'terrorism' lies on the far right - there are many examples of far left 'terrorism' like that of Ms. Roseberg in the US, but it is not covered so extensively as that of right or far right terrorism because the media has been nucleated with the idea of socialism being the desired outcome. (Socialism has failed in every country worldwide and should not be fostered.)

Rather than form an opinion based on your ethereal belief that the media doesn't report all left wing terrorism, why didn't you seek out a non-media source for actual fact based statistics?

The Centre for Strategic & International Studies is a well respected bipartisan think tank. Their study of the 893 terrorist incidents that occurred in the US between Jan.1, 1994 - May 8, 2020 presents the true picture

While there's no doubt that from 2000-2005 the majority of attacks were from the LW, apparently due to animal research, farming & construction activists, since 1994 the majority of attacks have been from the RW. (57% RW. 25% LW. 15% Religious. 3% Ethnonationalists)

The current perception that LW attacks are now in the majority is also incorrect. During the past 6 years, RW attacks/plots have increased. In 2019 2/3 of attacks were from the RW. From Jan.1, 2020 - May 8, over 90% of attacks were RW.

Now to fatalities. Due to the 9/11 attacks, the majority of fatalities were
from religious terrorists. RW attacks are responsible for 335 deaths. LW attacks caused 22 deaths.

Maybe because the Capitol police are in charge of security, neither you nor I know who had the advance information, clearly there were failures in the system, just who and where we don’t as yet know, plus of course many simply didn’t expect the level of attack, this was a half brained attempt to overthrow the result of the election, an attack on elected government, don’t know what these Trumpists expected should they have been successful in their quest.

If they thought that kidnap and murder was the way forward, they clearly are easily lead, but of course they were following the wishes of the “President” and as such felt fully justified.

Anyway the sulky child is going, has evidently arranged some grandstand send off rather than attend the inauguration, just hope his required 21 gun salute know who they are shooting at.

Equally ironic the new neighbours don’t want him near the place and are taking him to court over breaking the agreed conditions for anyone staying at his golf retreat.

Good illustration was in Michigan, the armed thugs were congregating, but changed their minds when being told where they could and couldn’t go, along with warning that any show of force would be met.

Suddenly they weren’t quite so tough nor dedicated to the cause.

Washington DC is not a state. It doesn't have a Governor, and, unlike states, officials can't summon the National Guard. Because they are not a state, the DC National Guard is under Federal control and reports directly to the President. State officials have to request permission to deploy the National Guard.

The Mayor, Muriel Bowser, requested permission for the National Guard to provide support for crowd control etc. on December 31st. It was granted on January 4th. On January 6th it became apparent that their role needed to be expanded to protect and maintain order at the Capitol Building. Bowser's request was denied.

The Capital Police Chief was also denied backup by both the House and Senate Sergeants at Arms.

Heads should roll.

'I followed a group that broke off to advance on five policemen guarding a side corridor. “Stand down,” a man in a maga hat commanded. “You’re outnumbered. There’s a ******* million of us out there, and we are listening to Trump—your boss.”

"We can take you out,” a man beside him warned.'

Please read it. These people are totally under Trump's spell. He has groomed them for his own gain. I recommend a light spritz of orange mist in order to get a more realistic view.

Our fellow forum poster, local, will continue to understate the gravity of the January 6^th Capitol invasion. S/he will persist with the line that President Trump's remarks to the rally were innocent of any intent to incite his supporters to break and enter the halls of the US legislature and certainly nothing as sinister as threatening legislators.

Provided President Biden does not quash investigation (in a futile attempt at reconciliation with Republican Senators), in the weeks to come as more and more charges are laid and prosecutions proceed, there will be opportunities to seek reevaluation, or even recantation. But realistically, …what are the chances?

Mitch McConnell, you know who he is I presume, stood up in the House and declared openly that he held Trump responsible for the attack on the Capitol.

Sure he is probably getting out from the mess, but he is the Republican leader, you can continue with your divisive, excusist comments, but I think Mitch McConnell is a little closer and better informed than any of us.
