A large section of Southport's Marine Drive is closed until May due to roadworks.
The road is closed between Hesketh Drive and Marshside Road; local diversions are in operation.

The base of that stretch of the Marine Drive was used as a tip by the refuse wagons in the days of the old Southport Corporation.
The Corporation's Conservative Council always tried to do things on the cheap. As the rubbish became compacted it settled, and gave rise the roller coaster road we still have.
