Who ever wrote this should be ashamed of themselves. Have you even heard of comma’s?
Just for one brief moment there I thought you was talking common sense, then I realised it was someone else’s quote. I suppose I should have known better.

Because of the infighting between them all - we need more local Councillors to get anything done for Southport. There is an imbalance of expenditure - most money being spent South of Formby. i.e Bootle, Crosby, etc., which is rather silly because there are less returns in those areas, most gains would come from an established resort like Southport, that is if they don't ruin it completely.

Deliveries and tradespeople need to use these roads for access to the residential properties on a regular basis - so cycle lanes would be redundant for most of the time. Where is the benefit of cycle lanes in this area? How are they any benefit to anyone?
Use the money to provide a bridge or two over the River Ribble, and improve the footpath to accept cycles. This would make a much safer route for cyclists, who would not have to travel along the hugely busy dual carriageway and it would link up with the Preston Guild and the Ribble Way. This could be an additional attraction for Southport, it could be used for cycle/marathon runners etc., in complete safety. Motorists would not be affected and since the footpaths are already in place it would not be expensive nor difficult to do. This would be in Sefton's interest bringing more sports people to Southport.
Do you really think a bridge or two across the Ribble estuary would cost a similar amount to a few plastic bollards and some white lines?

I run an electric vehicle for personal transport - have done so since last Summer. Have a diesel motorhome, it's laid up due the lockdown. I use a utility bike, fitted with panniers for shopping trips. Also enjoy regular bike-rides, on my hybrid bike or classic racer - choice of bike depends on route. The business runs two commercial vehicles, one is petrol and one is diesel.....happy now?

According to the original article, there are many in that area who apparently have mobility issues.....Unable to cycle and presumably also unable to walk any distance, they pile into the 'Village' in their cars, struggling to find a space.

If only their local roads had nice new cycle-lanes, all these semi-infirm residents could use them to safely access the shops on 15mph electric mobility buggies. Thus improving local air quality, saving the planet - and overcoming their need for parking spaces!

So you're polluting the air with not one but four vehicles, two vans, a motorhome and an electric vehicle where the juice generated to charge it would either be fossil or nuclear power. Well done you on trying to save the planet.

Horses for courses.....A light commercial for light jobs, plus a 3.5tonner for the heavy stuff. When 2nd hand electric commercials become available at the right price, we'll be happy to switch. As Amazon recently realised, electric traction is a great sales point. Btw, there are 'green' power suppliers, e.g. OVO Energy.

We're an ethical trader, helping customers substantially reduce their carbon footprints. This is achieved by removing old-school gas and coal fires - and replacing them with cleanburn carbon-neutral woodstoves.....And all at the best possible price - complete 5kw installations (inc liner) from an amazing £1,250!

Southport hasn’t been a ‘Resort’ for a long time, in reality probably over 50 years! The sooner people take off the rose tinted glasses and accept this, the sooner the town can start developing into something new!

As for ‘most money being spent south of Formby’ not so long back, the same could be said for the spending north of Formby, like the Atkinson and the sea wall. As for ‘less returns’ in those areas, can you back this up at all? While the south end of the borough may be not so affluent as the north end, there’s a lot more business/industry down that end and, with a higher density of residents, will probably generate at least the same income for the council.

    Do you take illicit substances???

Why would Lancashire Council spend millions it would cost to build a bridge over the Ribble? Sefton and Southport are not in Lancashire so who’s going to finance it?

It is the same with the Ormskirk Bypass that has been called for for the last 50 years, Lancs aren't going to fund something that the main beneficiary is not their area.

Oddly enough, Lancs County do have ambitions to put a bridge over the Ribble. But not from Southport to St Annes....the bridge proposal forms part of their Preston Bypass plans. It will connect this end of Pemberton with Blackpool Rd.

By Pemberton, do you actually mean Penwortham?

I could understand that as it would be relatively short and it’s part of the bypass scheme.

Yes, sorry mate. I meant Penwortham. The proposed road to the proposed bridge, will connect with this end of the new Penwortham by-pass. As to when, that's dependent on when funds are forthcoming.

    Bullsh2t alert !!!!!

How can you be an ethical trader when you are selling devices that pollute and damage lungs from the back of an old diesel truck ?

Not to mention the habitat destruction.

If you would care to tell us how ovo gets its clean and green energy to you I am intrigued ?
