A Ford Transit van has been abandoned in Hill Street Southport. The van has been there a week. Several parking tickets have been issued. The van is not taxed or insured.

I’ve been reporting a motorhome that has been parked on Manchester Road for months that is literally falling to bits. It is neither taxed, insured or MOT’d. The Police won’t get it moved, saying it is the responsibility of the Council.

Unless it’s causing an obstruction or parked in an unsafe position, the Police have got their hands tied.
Have you tried contacting DVLA? They cover the Excise Licence (Road Tax). They do have the powers to have it lifted.

The Police told me that they had passed it on to the Council, whose job it is to remove it from the road. Typically, the Council don’t appear to be interested.

It is not parked in a restricted area so it is nothing to do with the Council, VED, MOT, Insurance and Dangerous Condition are all Police matters not Council.

VEL is not a Police matter, it's DVLA. MOT, Insurance and the Dangerous Condition only become a Police matter when the vehicle is being driven, not when it's parked up unfortunately.

A Police Sergeant at Southport told me that it’s the Council’s responsibility to move it, not theirs.
