A&e
Spent yesterday in A&E, doing some light gardening an AF kicked in . But what great people we have in the NHS , had the scan , blood tests , all in the hand of fabulous people , released to go home at 2115. They even called a taxi for me . Thank you so much staff at southport general hospital A&E. God bless you all .

Reassuring to know there's good service at A & E.
Btw, you have me puzzled, what's 'an AF kicking in'? Athletes Foot?

My son smashed his finger badly the other day. He went to A & E as he is visually impaired he was treated very well. Eventually he was transferred to Whiston hospital to have his finger splinted - pinned & plated. He cannot say enough for both Southport A & E and Whiston. He has to go to Whiston at 8.30 for reassessment & dressing.

I'm surprised that A and E would send someone home same day, particularly if they've had it before, as it's a serious problem. Hope grassroots is having continuing treatment.

Usually if your hr is under 125 or if you're back in sinus they will send you home.

I'm currently 98 to 148 but stubborn so won't go unless it's constantly high.

My SiL suffers with it regularly, she has been offered a treatment in which they feed equipment through a vein in the groin or wrist to the heart and zapp a few cells, they do something similar to install stents and remove blood clots. She's stupidly turned it down and the episodes are now more frequent and more severe.

It's called ablation and sadly not guaranteed to work, i know someone who had it done and it caused more problems. I wouldn't have it done either to be honest.

I don't know where you learned that. The procedure is over 95% successful with a small percentage having to have the procedure repeated. To put it bluntly severe A/F can be fatal so I'd be advising any suffererer to see their doctor again......very soon.

I was offered ablation a few years ago and turned it down for the exact same reason. Instead, I had a cardioversion, where they shock your heart back into regular rhythm, followed by a pacemaker. I’ve never looked back since.
