I would say his discrimination of people on the colour of their skin aggression dishonesty and 'moonlighting' were enough to make him a nasty character.
"Misconduct complaints
Chauvin had 18 complaints on his official record, two of which ended in discipline, including official letters of reprimand.[19] According to the former owner of El Nuevo Rodeo, a Latin nightclub, Chauvin had worked there off duty as security while George Floyd was also working as security, but was not certain whether they knew each other.[20][21] The owner has been critical of Chauvin since his arrest, describing Chauvin's tactics as "overkill" and saying "Chauvin was unnecessarily aggressive on nights when the club had a black clientele, quelling fights by dousing the crowd with pepper spray and calling in several police squad cars as backup".[12][22].........................
On July 22, 2020, after the murder charges were brought against him, Chauvin and his then-wife were separately charged in Washington County, Minnesota, on multiple felony counts of tax evasion[77] related to allegedly fraudulent state income tax returns from 2014 to 2019.[78] Prosecutors state the couple under-reported their joint income by $464,433, including more than $95,000 from Chauvin's off-duty security work.[79] The complaint also alleges failure to pay proper sales tax on a $100,000 BMW purchased in Minnesota in 2018, failure to declare income from Chauvin's wife's business, and improper deductions on a rental home.[80]"

Drugged up petty criminals are not a problem that’s exclusive to America.
The problem is Chauvin was so distant from the man beneath his knee that murder doesn't seem the right charge.
I don't for one moment think Chauvin had murder on his mind.
The problems in America are far greater than one Police Officer and a petty criminal.
Georges death is a Cause célèbre latched onto by so many.

I think it is a culture perpetrated by those in power over those who (some) police perceive as hopeless none contributing underclass.
I am sure this includes non Black Americans too.
Compounding poverty and opportunity and trust are areas segregated by
all the disadvantages in society the majority it seems are Black.

Really? Stop making excuses for this pos.
Charged and convicted of murder.
Prosecutors would never have brought the charge if they didn’t think they had a good chance of getting the conviction.
Looks like murder to me and just about anyone else who watched that video.

Unfortunately, poverty is widespread amongst blacks and whites, achieving the American Dream has odds akin to lottery winning for most.

But I am not making excuses for him just the opposite, I am pointing out his total indifference to the person beneath his knee.
That is a greater problem than some odd racist bully.
It is the open decline of a civilisation, American society has become so morally corrupt.
Chauvin is merely a bit part foot soldier who happened to have to wait too long for a vehicle to take his prisoner into custody.
If the vehicle had arrived quicker we wouldn't be talking about it and George would be doing whatever.

If instead of his knee, Chauvin has had his hands on Floyd's neck and had been focusing his body weight on pushing through his hands onto Floyd's neck for near 9 and a half minutes, then the effect would likely have been the same: Chauvin murdering Floyd.
Using the knee was a less obvious way of committing murder.
