the old wimpys burger bar...slightly bad tempered cook that you could watch your onions and burger be fried.....i can see him now, flipping the burgers...delicious, or the pony express on eastbank st that had the rikerty metal conveyor belt that torched your burger,,again delicous...always surrounded by waiting drunk dodgy characters...

The wimpy must have been gone now for 40 yrs, the last time I was in there was 1978, after watching orca the killer whale at the cinema ( probably for free ) a friend and myself went in there for a free burger chips and a coke, his mum worked there .

The old Wimpy on Lord St did the best mixed grill ever. It was a highlight I used to look forward to when coming home on leave and it was a sad day when it closed.
