Some people just don't get the value of our waters and what's in them now and in generations to come.
Thank goodness we have a switched-on government that does.
Our future generations will thank us for Brexit.

Hang on.
Am I missing something here, the Channel Islands have never been in the EU, so what has it got to do with the EU or us?

True the Channel Islands were not full members of the EU, but were party to the customs union in all parts related to trade etc; something called protocol 3 in the treaty with the UK.

Strange that a lot of fish caught in the English Channel belong to the UE but any humans found there belong to the UK!

They could always trawl their rivers in France, instead of the sea......Seeing as the French like eating "Frogs"...and they may even catch a few snails as well in the process.....

Basically Johnson's Brexit deal has torpedoed the agreement that Jersey had with France over fishing.

Just more from the Brexit farce, why has fishing become so critical? or is this part of flag waving territorial, chest beating?
It is really only critical for those who are involved in the fishing industry and, indirectly the public at large, if it affects the cost of fish in our shops.
It comes down to what is ours belongs to us and that is a matter for governments to negotiate. I can't walk into my neighbours garage and start removing items that belong to him That is the matter of law and common decency.
Besides, what is wrong with a bit of flag waving and beating our chests? Other countries, worldwide, are proud of their flag, history and culture. Why is it that the British are afraid to display patriotism for fear of being ridiculed by the "woke" section of our population?

There is a big difference between patriotism and chest thumping, dog in the manger, nationalism.

Which would apply to the Scots or Welsh do you think?
It's really only the English who are reticent, largely because of people accusing them of chest thumping, dog in the manger nationalism.

That will be because when it occurs in England it is Tommy and his mates and the decent folks of the country don't want to be associated with his ilk.
