I got caught yesterday and looks like I'll be caught today! Why can't common sense prevail and open up Foul Lane to alleviate some of the build up?

Very inconvenient....SNR today resembled a linear car-park, from Haigh Ave lights, all the way back to Kew roundabout!

Some can get through, but only if the vehicle is narrow, e.g. like an early Mini......The gap is between a pair of the black bollards/poles next to the big concrete block, it means driving over the pavement though.

Common sense from Sefton Council, you’re ‘avin’ a laugh aren’t you.

Backed up roads.
Loads of road works in the area. A few diversions too.

The opening up of Foul Lane and reducing the traffic from outside the school would be a great safety measure.

It would but it would put a lot more traffic on Canning and Russel roads.

I'm only talking of opening it up during road closures, they could put a weight restriction after the bridge to prevent heavy lorries using it. The current diversion for people living in Blowick or High Park is a nightmare as all traffic, diverted and visitors are using SNR with diverted traffic then using Haig Avenue which itself isn't suitable for that amount of extra traffic.
Another way to ease the traffic jam is to put a temporary right turn filter on the lights at SNR/Haig Avenue that way you'd get more than 3 cars through for each light change.

A) Alternatively, buy a smaller car that can fit between the bollards!
B) Agree about SNR/Haigh Ave junction (amongst others!). There should be two long lanes at the lights on SNR, one for straight-on and one for right-turn....When I came past, traffic was backed up single-file to Tesco's roundabout, because of those waiting to turn right into Haigh Ave.

There are 2 lanes at the junction, but with no right filter after waiting for the traffic travelling out of Southport you get 3 or 4 cars turning right, sometimes less.

Do you mean similar to the two lanes that are already there?

They don't extend back far enough, resulting in traffic for town backing up.

They do extend far enough back for NORMAL amounts of traffic but when MCRd is closed then obviously there will be more traffic. Perhaps you should lobby for elastic lane markings that can be moved at a whim when abnormal occurrences happen.
