In UK, helmets are only mandatory for powered machines like mopeds/motorbikes. In any event, I believe these flimsy bike helmets are only certified good for impacts up to 12mph.

This is the weird illogic of the motoring fraternity....On the one hand 'no-one' cycles, so making separate space for bikes is pointless. On the other, bikes are always getting in the way on the roads, causing endless issues for drivers - duh!

The right hand lane is Right Turn Only so it was even more brainless considering he was going straight on.
It used to be called Lane Discipline but it goes out of the window especially some novice who wants to prove his Lewis Hamilton skills will propel his 1 ltr Corsa away faster than the BMW 140i on his inside. Straight off the bike into a car recipe for disaster.

No weird logic at all, proportionally clearly there are far more motor vehicles than bikes on the roads, yet cyclists figure so highly when it comes to idiots on the road.
I am anti any idiot road user, why do cyclists constantly make their mark when comes to idiots?
Incidentally providing cycle space is fine, getting cyclists to actually use them is another issue.

A) That is the real problem, too many cars....It's the automatic choice for most people, regardless of how local the journey or how good the weather may be for bikes. People need to give their heads a wobble before setting off, and consider if the car is actually the most suitable choice for the trip.
B) Tbh, I see far more 'idiot' behaviour from motorists, than I do from cyclists - if only because of the car to bike ratio. Speeding is the most common, particularly in our 20mph areas.....There's always some turkey who just has to get past - and vanish up the road ahead at an obviously illegal rate.
C) If there isn't a separate path/lane for cyclists, then none will be on them. At least providing a separate facility, gives the majority who want to be safe from traffic the choice to do so.

Nothing dangerous about what this kid did. Its perfectly legal to overtake slow/stopped traffic.

They should be law.
Children have to wear helmets playing cricket and horse riding.

It is a problem not going away soon.
Only the parents can save them from themselves.

Sure gamble on catching the lights before they change, put yourself outside of a right turning lane when you are going straight ahead, rely on others to see you and take avoiding action, damn good way of getting killed.

A) Usual anti car statement.
B) I would certainly challenge that statement, but of course anything travelling faster than snail pace is clearly speeding and dangerous to the very existence of humanity.
C) That isn’t what I posted, I posted, get cyclists to use cycle lanes where they are available.

Absolutely! The car driver won't get hurt, but when you are a very vulnerable road user it is wise not to be so stupid.

Thank You very much I think your post reply answers very succinctly why so many cyclists get injured or even worse killed. If you have a bike I'd get it sold.
Why would a driver stationary at traffic lights in a RIGHT TURN only lane expect anyone overtaking him??
