Israel's electorate had been becoming more uncompromising in its determination to retain Judea & Samaria over more years than 'Bibi' has been an MK. A future Palestinian state in the West Bank will necessarily be imposed over the strenuous objections of not only the settlers there, but also of an influential portion of Jewish voters inside Israel, not to mention large numbers of fervent Zionists, elsewhere!

Israeli governments' conception of the so-called two-state solution does not involve a genuinely independent Palestinian state; certainly not in terms that most people think of a state! Every Israeli PM from 1967, onward has declined to seriously contemplate relinquishing the conquered territory. No PM since Menachem Begin formally declared the policy of limited Palestinian autonomy, could expect to get the backing of the Knesset for a genuine Palestinian state. For Israeli governments a Palestinian state is a non-starter and Jewish Israeli voters have solidly supported that stance! All Israel's efforts have been dedicated to consolidating control of the West Bank and permitting the expansion of Jewish settlements. West Bank Palestinians will remain effectively stateless, though ultimately under the control of Israel.

I do not campaign "for a one State Palestine", as I have noted previously. I believe a single state giving equal civil and human rights to all citizens (& legal residents) — whether Jewish, Muslim or other — is a settlement that best satisfies the needs of all. As for Zionism, it only matters because it necessarily precludes "equal civil and human rights to all citizens …".
