What if anything, does an apparent spike say about contemporary Britain? Other comparable (i.e. Western, democratic) countries report similar, if not worse levels of abuse — NOT of course, a consolation. Random instances of abuse aimed at individuals who are (or even may be on the basis of their attire or appearance) Jewish or Muslim are perhaps especially malicious because they are unwarranted and personally harmful. My suspicion is that hateful behaviour does appear to have become more evident in as much as social media amplifies the background animosities. The questions, then: • Is religious animosity more prevalent than in the past? • Or, is it a case of animosity more in evidence? | Antipathies directed at the State of Israel over its handling of its "Palestinian problem" complicates the picture through that country's extensive use of public diplomacy which in practice includes aligning civil society groups outside of Israel with Israel's conventional, inter-governmental diplomacy messaging. Jewish organizations and prominent individuals speak out with a coordinated voice on matters directly pertaining to Israel's diplomatic interests. Israel's public diplomacy has been particularly effective, so much so that pro-Palestinian groups have been tarred, quite unfairly, with accusations of extremism and anti-Semitism. Organizations like the Community Security Trust (CST) are primed to record and report threats and smears directed at the UK's Jewish community. Comparable Muslim organizations have been established to do the same with respect of the UK's Muslims, but they are following rather than leading in this. Consequently, many people seem to believe that (as per your posts) Jewish students are being especially adversely affected. At the same time Jewish students are complaining of discrimination, pro-Palestinian groups and individuals are subjected to legal threats and intimidation by civil society organizations not obviously linked to Israel, yet serving the function of linking Israel protests with anti-Jewish sentiments. Taken altogether, I do not suppose that degrees of ill-feeling or hatred are much changed over time, except insofar as the demographic cross-section of the UK's population has changed and some more recently arrived communities have not (yet) entirely shed the retrograde attitudes learned in their countries of origin.

As I see it.
Problem is, that Hamas are still holding 130 hostages and if they had agreed to hand them over months ago, things would never have got to this appalling stage.
Hamas are again using the Palestinians as pawns, to gain world sympathy.
There are many protests in Israel to bring the hostages home.
Netanyahu is playing a very dangerous game. Because of him many Israelis are tarred with the same brush ..

I’m sure that Sinwar and his close family are back in their luxury hotel in Qatar. As leader of Hamas, he should be with his people..

The BBC can’t be relied on to tell the accurate truth. Those settlers may have a dream, but I’m convinced it will have a chance of happening like a snowball in hell.

More than 100 Israeli settlers forced their way into the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque complex on Sunday to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Purim, according to a Palestinian agency.

In a statement, the Jordan-run Islamic Waqf Department, which oversees the holy sites in Jerusalem, said the settlers entered the site through the mosque’s al-Maghariba Gate under police protection.

The settler incursion came amid rising tensions across the West Bank over Israel’s deadly offensive on the Gaza Strip, which killed more than 32,200 people since last October following a Hamas attack.

At least 450 Palestinians have been killed and 4,750 others injured by Israeli army fire in West Bank since Oct. 7, 2023, according to the Health Ministry.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is the world's third-holiest site for Muslims. Jews call the area the "Temple Mount," claiming it was the site of two Jewish temples in ancient times.

Israel occupied East Jerusalem, where Al-Aqsa is located, during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. It annexed the entire city in 1980 in a move never recognized by the international community.

SHIPPY hasn't queried your figures, most of the Palestinians are unable to leave and will have to remain there.
At the end of this there will be no winners only losers, many thousands of Palestinians are already dead, many of the hostages will be dead, many UDF soldiers will be dead. Netanyahu's government will be gone who will be the replacements - the extreme Zionists? Israel will be a much smaller place as the International Community will insist on a Palestinian State with settlers removed but no Hamas. Hamas will not go away they will reemerge and trouble will eventually start again.

What amazes me, is the changes in our own British society. People, who have little knowledge of British ancestry and traditions are taking over the streets of London. Places in Britain that have no go areas ,for many people, but especially for Jews…. FGS
This situation bothers me immensely ,just as much as the Middle East problem.

I think today, ( according to what I have witnessed on TV and read) many Palestinians have come to their senses and want Hamas out. ASAP.

I ask you, to sincerely look again at the situation.
Hamas destroyed Gaza, because of the greed of their leaders. Men who have never had a penny to their name, suddenly have found themselves
